In the beginning there were teenagers. And those teenagers were split into groups. You could call them sections, or ranks. The top ranks were for the most popular people in school, like the sports captains or the next Miss Short Skirt of The Year. The lower ranks were for the people like me.
My name is Sally Jenkins. I am probably the most clumsiest, geekiest, most awkward person on earth. I live in a not quite ordinary house with a not quite normal family. My father works as a butcher for his own company called Nice To Meat You (pun intended). He says his forte is pork pies. Though not found in every butchers, Dad takes full priority of Nans extra special baking talents. Nan only lives down the road from us so she comes over most nights to help with dinner. Dad's hopeless at cooking dinner. One time he even set fire to beans! It was not a nice sight. But Nan knows just how bad he is at cooking so every Monday, Wednesday and Friday she brings us some meals to last until she next comes. And for my mum, don't ask about her. Because I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about her. She left me at the hospital for Dad to collect, like it was all some 'drop and go' activity, not childbirth.
So, that only leaves me. Well, as I've said I am Sally Jenkins. I am 14 and I live in a small village set in and around the countryside. I go to school with my best friend Hidi, who lives a few minutes from us in the other direction of Nan. Other than that, there's not much to tell. But what kind of story would it be if everything was perfect at the start?
Oh, and I forgot to mention,
I have a pet pig called Pamela.
