Rita sat at her desk reading a book during her lunch period. Actually she hasn't been reading it for the past five minutes, but instead staring at one word and allowing it to run over and over again in her mind.
Love.
She knew what love was and how there were different kinds. There's the motherly love that she felt toward her students. Even the ones she didn't think liked her much, but there's always a period where kids disliked their parents. It's a teen thing. Believe it or not she went through the rebellion faze. Then there's the love you feel for family and of course platonic love. However she was never truly sure she's been in love. Sure she's dated boys but she's never had the love appeal with them. Then there was a girl named Valerie she met in school. She could see herself falling head over heals for said girl, but she moved before any waters could be tested.
The sent letter to each other for a while. She knew Valerie became a teacher as well but she teaches science rather than music and health. She's really unsure how health a music got mixed together, but this was her job so she went on with it.
She didn't realize how long she daydreamed and was zoned out because suddenly her doors flew open and teens rushed in. Buzzwell shut the book and focused in on her students.
"Brought you an apple!" Gaelyn said suddenly, startling Buzzwell. He always had a habit of bringing her apples. She never was sure why but she was grateful for the act of kindness.
"Thank you Gaelyn." She said in appreciation as the boy set it on her desk. Gaelyn in turn nodded and sat in his chair after saying. "Of course, Ms Buzzwell."
After five minutes, her class of ten was sitting in there self assigned seats. She quickly took roll then proceeded to look at her lesson plan. "Today we will be learning about the dangers of drugs." She said with a smile. sometimes she was sure why they forced this so hard in the curriculum. These are teens who will rebel at some point and by telling them not to do something will only make a lot of them want to do it more. Teens are impulsive and like doing the opposite of what they're told. Except for the few who are to scared to even consider doing any.
Many of the younger teachers clearly ignored their drug warning and have taken something at one time or another. Herself included, but they did have older teachers who didn't understand the thrill or the huge interest in it. That's most likely why they kept it in the curriculum to keep the older generation happy.
For class she ended up showing pictures of some of the drugs and explaining the symptoms and the long term damage they have the possibility of causing. Occasionally one of the kids would speak up and make some sort of joke causing the class to laugh. She couldn't help but smile more when the kids laughed a She usually let them joke then scold the for speaking because happy students equaled a happy teacher.
After the lesson she asked if for questions and of course Jordan had multiple , but he was a curious kid. So she explained every answer to the best of her ability.
The class ended and after two more classes the day was finished. With a smile on her face, Buzzwell made her way out of the school and to her car. Only to be stopped at the doors from hearing her name.
"Rita Buzzwell." The voice said with a smile. Rita could tell she was smiling...
