Why did the rivers bring me here
So close to hunger, far to clothing,
Where gray rocks pile,
And men unfairly hearted?
Only kind angels watch over the steps
Of I the Orphan Child.Distant and soft in voice,
Night breeze blowing,
Clouds none,
And night unstary,
None to watch in nights pass.
God in his mercy, protection is given.
There is no other thought
That hope is what I feed on.Shall I fall myself over this broken bridge,
That makes my sky every night?
I believe I shall see another sky,
So more fair,
With unlike darkness,
Sky more warm,
With forests unfading flowers,
Grapes on each hand.
I hear the sky is everyone's fiend,
What then is he to me
I who is forsaken
Both by society and fortune
Fiends always forget those fortune has forsaken.
