When someone hammers one thing in our mind, we start to adapt to that thing. The same is with the current state of religion, all they are doing is making us over-sentimental about such things and are just drifting us away from our actual purpose, by binding us to these rules.
There are countries who follow a particular religion, the governments in these countries are lenient towards the people who follow the "Official" religion and favor them, but they do not favor the ones who don't follow the religion and even discriminate against them, by posing huge taxes on them or not giving them equal opportunities. Sometimes, they even force them to convert. Most of the people living in such countries fail to achieve their purpose.
There are also countries which call themselves "Secular" and "Liberal" but are filled with people who have conservative mindsets. The major religion in these countries enjoys all the rights, which is completely opposite from what they show to the world and almost every country has a "Major Religion" and even if the discrimination is comparatively less, people still are facing discrimination on the basis of Religion.
Isn't this just binding us? When we take a proper look around ourselves, don't we find us to be enslaved by the chains of religion? And even if we are the majority, aren't we always in the fear that someday, some people of our group might do something to piss off the minority? That we'll all suffer if the minority tries to rebel, even though we haven't done anything wrong to anybody. Someone who we don't even know takes a wrong decision and we all suffer. Is that how we want to live? Ruled by people who don't care if we live or die, ruled by the ones who only want to fill their pockets? Isn't this the same as being enslaved?
Sometimes, there are prophecies, for example, "When darkness is taking over the light of truth, a person will be born. Who will eradicate the darkness forever." If suppose, that prophecy is true and what if the person is born, but suffers from conditions like discrimination on the basis of religion, will they be able to fulfill their purpose? A person like that will obviously not come from a particular religion, that could be totally random. The person might even be an atheist, but what if the "Religious people" of that place don't approve of him? This is how the current religion is acting as nothing but an obstruction in our path to achieve purpose.
In all the religions, there is one line that says, "All are equal in the eyes of god."
Then why do different sects exist in one religion? Why is their hierarchy in religion?
Yes, we might face discrimination from the people of our own religion, just because at some point of time, someone wrote that in a book and that someone surely wasn't God.
So, the person who wrote this book was a hypocrite because first they write that everyone is equal in the eyes of God and a few pages later, they write that "XYZ" is greater than "ABC" and the "ABC" must always be under the "XYZ" and follow its orders.
They write that there is only one God and then they write that killing a person of the other religion will land us in heaven.
They write that God forgives all and then they tell people to shun the people who refuse to believe in God, and sometimes even punish them with death penalties.
If there is a God and if he is watching all of this, these people have done nothing but saddened him.
