Don't wanna lie here but you can learn to

Tom's POV

"I don't want to go home yet." I told Y/n after we walked out of the diner.

"Tom, it's 9:30."

"And it's also the weekend." I said looking over at her as we walked down the street. A smirk came across my face as she looked at me with a gentle smile. "C'mon. I know a place not too far from here. Race ya."

I started running down the sidewalk to the park that I had known since I was little.

Not having to think too much about the directions since it was tattooed in my brain.

I stopped running when I saw the familiar oak tree and a bench not too far from it.

I stand where I am waiting for Y/n to catch up.

"You seriously made me run to a bench?!" Y/n said out of breath after she caught up to me.

"Well yeah. A bench and a park. And look it's empty we have it all to ourselves."

We started to walk further into the park.

"I haven't been to the park in so long."

"Well I'm glad I'm the one to be taking you again. Now let's have fun, let's run around."

Y/n looked at me through the corner of her eye only turning her head a little bit. A smirk on her face.

Next thing I knew she was running to the playground and climbing up the stairs. She took a seat at the top of the slide and I sat down behind her, putting my legs at her sides and wrapping my arms around her waist.

"Ready?" Y/n assured.

"Yeah." I whispered.

She pushed us off and we were letting little screams as we went down.

We spent the rest of the night running around the field and rolling around in the grass like little kids. Like we didn't have responsibilities and parents who were expecting us home.

"I should get you home." I said even though I didn't want the night to end. "We've been out here for hours."

"I can't let you walk home alone by yourself. That's dangerous." Y/n said picking at the grass that we sat on. "I'll just stay at your house."

"You sure?"

"It's basically 12am, Tom. Yes, I'm sure."

"Let's go then."

..............

"I can get you some clothes if you want?"

"Yeah, thanks."

I went into my closet and grabbed a plain white shirt and grey sweatpants for Y/n.

"The bathroom is just outside my room." I said as I handed the clothes to her.

She thanked me and left my room; it now being covered in silence.

The truth is, I didn't even have a favorite color, until she screamed out purple. She seemed so excited. She was smiling like a little girl who had just gotten the doll she had wanted for her birthday. So I said she was right. Ever since then purple has been in everything I look at.

A small smile went on my face as I took my shirt off and changed into something else.

I started to remember when we were rolling down the hill not too long ago. We ended up getting glued together as we laughed the night away. When we came to a stop she was on top of me with a smile on her face and small giggles escaping her mouth.

I placed my hands on her hips to keep her steady. I remember it being silent for a moment and we were just staring into each other's eyes.

I finished putting on my shorts just as Y/n walked in.

She walked over to my bed and got under the blankets. I turned off the lights and did the same.

"Goodnight Y/n."

"Goodnight Tom."
