“Where’s Beth!” Reese demanded, forcing herself into a corner with only a hanger she had found in the bare closet as her weapon. Bearing her teeth like a feral animal.Every day seemed to bring them closer to that goal.
“Ma’am if you could just-” one tried to calm.
“Blonde hair, blue eyes. Where is she?” She screams, glancing at their blue uniforms.
“What’s going on here?” A voice cuts through. The two officers clear a path for a face Reese believed she would never see again.
“D-Dawn,” she gasps, bringing herself to tears.
“Re-re,” she says.
Closing the distance to meet in a long-awaited embrace.

“I had my big sister back,” she explains. “I couldn’t see it,” she says, closing her eyes and shaking her head. “I couldn’t see it,” she scolds herself. “Work to earn our keep,” she said. Beth helped their doctor while I did the laundry.~.~
“So Dawn’s your sister?”“Yeah. And she’s your boss.”
The teen snorts, giving a nod.
“I guess some things never change,” she mumbles to herself as she folds the twenty-first scrub shirt and adds it to the pile before placing it on the rack.
“Was it just you and Beth?” Reese shakes her head, focusing on folding the pressed pants.
“Had a group,” she starts. “There were a lot of us,” she says, stopping the memories of the prison from invading her mind. Rick, Carl, Judith, Carol, Glenn, and Maggie.
Were they all dead?
“Than there was just us for a while.” she restates. “Me, Beth, and Daryl.”
Was he dead?
“It was just me and my dad when Dawn found us,” he says, letting her know she doesn’t have to keep going. “They could only save one, and they chose me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I think they left him because he was strong, could fight back...”
