I shuffled my feet down the street as slowly as possible. I swear I hate unfamiliar places!

"Come on, Kim, you don't want to be late meeting your new family." my care taker Emily said giving me a small smile.

"They're  not my family!" I stated stubbornly. I'll admit I should give them a chance, I didn't even know them, but no one can replace my mom. I stood still on the sidewalk with my arms folded. Emily groaned before taking my hand and dragging me down the old sidewalk. I  yanked my arm away causing her to flinch.

"Emily!" I complained.

"You're going, I'm sorry." Emily half smiled.

She continued to drag me until we finally reached a huge grey house. We walked up the old wooden steps until we came to this even older looking door. Emily knocked on it and stood still. There was no answer.

"Maybe they aren't here so we can just, you know.... leave." I decided.

"Kimberly-" She cried.

"Kim!" I said stubbornly. "Stop using my full name!"

The wind picked up and coldly swept by me. Emily stood there tapping her foot and checking her watch impatiently. Maybe if they aren't here I could leave. I watched the doorknob praying for it not to turn. As if on que I shuddered when the door knob slowly turned.

"Damn." I muttered.

Emily gave me a look that would scare the devil himself. I rolled my eyes not caring. The door pulled open and I met the face of a gorgeous looking guy. He stood around 6ft2 had black hair and stunning green eyes.

"Hey, you must be Kim." He spoke and pulled out his hand. I snatched it eagerly and and swallowed before speaking.

"Yeah."

Was this hot guy living with me? Emily gave me an impatient look and then glanced at her watch.

"C-can I come in, its kinda cold." I said, my eyes shifting to the room behind him.

"Oh, uh I don't live here. I'm just the neighbor." The green eyed stranger answered thus making me frown. He must have noticed because he tried to bring good news.

"Don't worry, we'll being going to school with each other. Well get to know each other better. I'm sure we'll become good friends." He said giving me another flashing smile. Immediately I blushed with an attempt to turn my head so he wouldn't see. His eyes wandered down and I saw our hands still together. I dropped it and this time he frowned grabbing it once again. "Come on." he said nodding his head in the doors direction and pulled me in the house. Emily followed behind us.

My eyes wondered around the room and there was more pieces of expensive furniture than I could count on both hands. Two white leather couches sat still in the room. Infront of it was a huge flat screen plasma t.v. A glass sculpture of a unfamiliar flower stood on a glass side table. There were three huge portraits on the far back of the wall, a young woman around her late 30's with Golden hair and dark blue eyes was on the right, on the left was a man around the womans age with brown hair and grey eyes. In the middle was a young girl around 12 with brown hair and grey eyes.

 "Fancy place."

I muttered to myself. This must be the family. They were all smiling big except for the father who had a smug expression. The little girl had taken up after the fathers looks. She was actually very pretty.

The sound of someone clearing their throat interupted my thoughts and there stood the little girl in the portrait. A lot older now, she had look around my age.
