This is a bit of an uneventfull chapter but it gets more interesting as the story continues. I promise. I also apoligise for my updates being so far apart, I've been sick for two days now and then i was busy with the horses again and my freind Jacob was coming out a lot. So basically i am just spurting out pathetic reasons why i havent been updating. Sorry guys and girls!(probably only girls)
Jade's POV
I don't know when I fell asleep but when I woke up I was laying in my swag. My clothes hadn't been changed thankfully although my belt had been taken off, I think I know why.
Climbing out of bed, I yawn and stretch then run my hand through my hair. It gets caught on a few knots but I just rip my fingers through and ignore the pain as my hair threatens to leave my scalp.
I stretch once more and hear my back crack into place before walking into the main part of the bus. Everyone, meaning Luke, Michael, Ashton and Calum, are crowded around Liz who has a laptop sitting on her lap.
When I spot my belt also sitting near them I know why their faces are covered in shock. I clear my throat, all of them snap their heads towards me and i am bombarded with questions.
'You are a barrel-'
'-amazing rider-'
'-own a pretty-'
'-'angerous sport-'
'-tell us?'All of the questione are asked at the same time so I only get small parts of what they say. "Shut up!" I snap, "If you all talk at the same time I can't understand anything."
"Sorry." The boys say together. Liz smiles at me and holds my belt out to me. I snatch it back and quickly put it back through my jeans.
"Now," I clap my hands to make sure everyone is paying attention. "I will say this once and consider this your first and only warning. Touch my stuff again and you will wake up with a knife through your leg."
Liz gasps and they all look at me wide-eyed. I ignore them and grab the laptop, sitting down on the seat to look at what they were reading. Its an old article about me in Performance Horse with a picture of me on the taffy mare I was riding at the time.
At the Tammworth Annual Rodeo we managed to get a very short interview with rising rodeo star, Jazmine McClymont. This cowgirl is only fourteen years old and already has one quite a few major titles. We asked her a few questions and here is what she had to say.
How well do you think you did in this years Junior Barrel Race? You are currently in the lead but there is a few more rounds before the competition is finished. Do you think you will stay up front and pull out another amazing win?
"I think I did pretty good, a clear run with a time of thirteen point two. Yes, I'm currently leading for most points but in all honesty, I don't care if I win or not. I just came here this year to give my old mare one last run before she is retired. I didn't think that Lianna would preform such an amazing run, it shocked me so much I nearly fell out of the saddle when I heard the time!' McClymont said, "It would be amazing to win again but I've seen a lot of new faces here this year and I'm kind of hoping that they win. There is no way to describe the feeling you get when then announce you as the champion."
You said that you are going to be retiring Lianna soon, what are your plans for next year then?
'Yeah I am. Lil is getting a bit of age on her at seventeen and I want to be able to get a few foals out of her for future riding stock before she gets to old. Dad recons he is going to use the foals as broncs if they act anything like their mother. But I don't think it would happen, mainly because we are going to import a very nice stallion from America soon to put over her but I'm not allowed to say anymore," McClymont informs, "As for the situation in needing a new horse? I have a young horse that I'm training right now but I don't think he'll be ready for the competitions I want to try and ride in next year. Instead, the plan is that I will just be riding him in a few smaller rodeos for experience and taking him to bigger ones to get used to the suroundings but not be ridden there. I'm just going to be taking a break from barrels next season and focusing a bit more on my roping while using one of Dads horses."
We only managed to ask these few questions before she was called off to another event. We tried to catch her again before she left but sadly did not manage too. Keep an eye out for this young star, shes definatly the one to watch.
When I finished reading it, I looked up and realised that everyone was staring at me. I close the laptop and raise an eyebrow "Questions anyone?"
I point at Michael who asks, "How long ago was this?"
"Four years." I answer, "Next." Lukes turn this time.
"This was the most recent thing we could find about you. Why did you quit it if you were a rising star?" Is his question.
"Personal reasons is why I quit it and sold all of my quarter horses. Since then I've helped my Aunt and Uncle run their ASH stud."
"All of your horses? How many did you own?"
"What was so horrible that made you quit?"
"You still ride but why not compete?"
"Because," I take a deep breathe to prepare to answer when Drake walks in and announces we are nearly at the venue. Turns out the guys are preforming their first concert of their Australian-American tour tonight.
I quickly jump up and race back to my bed and hide in my swag. I undo my belt and throw it on the ground. It used to be just something to wear but now that old memories are flooding back I can't stand being near it. Its that stupid things fault my horse was murdered.
*
About twenty minutes later the bus stops and some one pulls my blankets off my head. I groan and try to pull them back but whoever has them refused to let go so I just give up and hide my face in my pillows.
"Come on Jade. It's our first concert of the tour and I want you to watch. Please?" I hear Ashton beg with a whimpering sound at the end. He grabs my shoulder and pulls me onto my back so I am facing him giving me a puppy-dog face.
"Have you been crying?" He suddently frowns and touches my wet cheek. I slap his hand away before sitting up and mumbling a sorry, seeing as he had jumped a bit when I hit him.
"Just don't ask me about it if your smart. Maybe I'll tell you later." I say and rub my sore eyes. "How long till this concert starts?" I ask Ash and he smiles widely at me.
"So your gonna watch?" He asks hopefully.
"Might as well. I get to see you pretty boy." I coo and he giggles, making me start laughing. "Did you just giggle? How old are you supposed to be?"
"I'm nearly twenty, and yes I did," Ash says crossing his arms across his chest. "Now come on and get ready. You have about five minutes to get ready."
