It was silent in one of the many hidden buildings near the Koi tower. Only the chirping of birds from the outside could be heard, it was a quiet nice afternoon. The sun shone a bit less brighter than usual, but it still shone through all the paper windows, showing shadows of some amulets on them. It was a small building with only one room, hidden under a cliff. Inside of the room weren't many things, only a big wardrobe, covered in chains and talismans top to bottom and two strange statues, that laid on simple bamboo underlay. Only upon further inspection could one realize, that the two lying on the ground were actually live humans, though not very lively at the moment. They were two females in their late teens at oldest, both dressed in black and red clearly inexpensive clothes. The one on the left had striking red hair and a round face that looked kind of pretty, the one on the right was of similar looks, though her hair was wavy and brown and her skin was about half a tone darker than the lady's on the left. Both were lying motionless and looked to be dead, but that was not the case, they were both only frozen in time. Suddenly some noise came from the outside.
"Hey," someone around a kids age shouted, it was muffled, but still recognizable, "it's my turn to be the leader!"
"No, I'm the leader!"
The small voices argued for a while, until one of them got an idea:
"The one who goes to the "Scary shack" will be the leader!"
"Ha! Only babies are still scared of that!"
"Well, I accept!"
Than the wooden floor outside creaked, it wasn't used for more than 12 years and than small shadows appeared outside. One of the boys slowly opened the door. It made such a screeching sound, that it almost scared the living daylights out of the young invaders and a few fled.
"Ha! I'm the first in!" one of the boys shouted raising his hand triumphantly and standing between the two ladies.
"Hey! I'm here too!" the second boy stood in and just as he did that, he moved to one of the girls and slightly touched her hand and lifted it up, "it's just two weird corpses." Unlike others, this boy was not scared, because his father looked after the local cemetery and the boy saw corpses on daily basis.
"W-well, I've already proved myself first to be the leader, so I win," started the other boy.
"What? Are you too scared to touch the corpse?"
At that, the boy fumed with anger and than went up to the second "corpse" and kicked her leg a few times.
"See I touched it, I win!" he insisted after. The other boy only smirked and lifted his "corpses" hand high up: "You didn't even touch it! Your shoes don't count!"
Suddenly one of the girls stirred and started moving.
"Aaaah! Live corpses!" screamed both boys and ran out of the house, leaving the two behind.
The girl on the left groaned, as she felt the sun hit her eyes.
"Hm... my mortal enemy," she mumbled and brought her hand up,
To cover her face.
"Hey...?" she asked, as she sleepily sit up, "A-Lu?"
The other girl in the room also stirred at this moment, starting to wake up and sitting straight: "A-Yu? Where are we?"
"Probably still in the Jin sect," shrugged "A-Yu" and she slowly stood up and started to stretch: "hm... my injuries are healed how about you?"
"Same"
"What are we gonna do now? Thank god some kids were stupid enough to come here and wake us up..." laughed "A-Yu".
"True, hm... if they were able to come in, it must have been a long time since we were "unfrozen"," spoke "A-Lu" her thought out loud and "A-Yu" agreed.
"Let's find our stuff first..." they decided in the end. It wasn't hard since the gigantic wardrobe was right to their right.
"Let's see what we got here, some chains, concealment talismans..."
mumbled "A-Yu".
"And a protection talisman, not bad for a beginner," finished "A-Lu".
"Xue Yang was not a beginner though..." shrugged "A-Yu".
"He was. Especially if you compare him to Master. Or even any of us actually," corrected "A-Lu".
"Eh... yeah, that is kind of true... what are we gonna do about this though," answered "A-Yu".
"Hm... I think we have to go chronologically," came "A-Lu" up with an idea after further inspection. "A-Yu" nodded in agreement. They inspected the wardrobe for a bit more, than tore the talismans down one by one. It took a long time, when they were done with about 3/4 of the whole thing, they had to re-use one of the talismans, to make themselves some light.
"Okay, that should be it," nodded "A-Lu" satisfied.
"Yeah, but why won't the chains come off," mumbled "A-Yu", "let's see... we removed all the talismans here, we broke that, hm... oh! Look! There is a hidden circle in here! He really wanted to make this as hard for us as he thought possible."
Than they scratched a part of the not so expertly carved circle and finally the chains loosened and could be put away.
"Let's see what we have here," smirked "A-Lu" and "A-Yu" returned the smirk. Than they used probably most of their strength to open the damned thing.
Inside were about a dozen drawers, though most of them were empty.
The two took a lit up talisman each and searched the drawers for their stuff. There wasn't much. They found their old clothes crumpled in one particularly small drawer and neither wasted her breath when criticizing this.
"He could have are least tried to fold them!"
"Yeah! Stupid imitator..."
than they found "A-Yu"'s little bag that she wore everywhere, it used to be filled with
talismans, tools for capturing monsters and other creatures, some notes, blank papers, even writing tools, but now, it was empty except for one or two papers and an old brush.
"Dang it! I still wanted to study on some of that!" cursed "A-Yu".
"Yeah, ugh! I hate that guy! I really hate them both..." agreed "A-Lu".
"Though imagine his face, when he thought he found some kind of Masters unseen notes, or something and most of the stuff was..." she didn't need to finish the sentence. Both knew. Both laughed for a good while after that. It was shameless to go around with books like that... but the reactions that people gave them were priceless.
