Davina Murray sighed as she walked through the pack house looking for her brother, Mason. She pondered at the idea of just saying "screw it" and ditching the pack meeting but it would only end in world war 3.
After a few more moments of wandering through the hallways, she finally saw her little brother sitting on a window ledge, reading a book.
"Mason, we have to go, Mom and Dad are waiting for us in the commons" Davina urged him to move.
Mason is her only brother and at 11 years old, he's a serious bookworm. He spends all his time reading or in the library where he's usually always found.
They made their way through the maze of hallways until they reached the commons, which were full of pack members. The elders were sitting up at the front with Davina's parents. Their parents are the Alpha and Luna of the Silver Moon lycan pack. Davina and Mason worked through the crowd until the reached their sister, Amara. Amara looked over and gestured for them to hurry up as the Alpha began speaking.
"I just want to start off by saying thank you all for coming today. I'm sure you already know what time is upon us but for those of you who don't, I will give a rundown of the upcoming event" Alpha David begins the meeting in a monotone voice.
The pack whispered amongst themselves as they waited for the Alpha to continue his speech.
"As most of you know, each year there is a ball hosted by neighboring packs. This ball is to allow young males and females of age to mingle and find potential mates. All parties of age are invited to attend from all the friendly neighbouring packs. This year the ball will be hosted by us. In 3 days time, our grounds will be filled with new faces and possible mates for those of ours who have yet to find one."
Luna Mary cut in after Alpha was done speaking.
"At the age of 18 to the age of 26, you have the opportunity to attend these events to meet a Mate. If you fail to find one by the age of 26, one will be appointed to you by the pack Elders" Luna explains as people shift from foot to foot.
"We are excited to announce that our oldest daughter, Davina, will be attending this year's ball as well. So be ready and have fun everyone! Good luck to you all!" Luna concluded her speech as the crowd dispersed.
♡♡♡♡Davina's POV♡♡♡♡
Darkness. That's all that I could see from all angles surrounding me. I was floating, in a black abyss. I tried to shout but no sound came from my lips and I started to panic. Where am I? Why can't I see? Am I dreaming?
I started to hyperventilate and then I lost consciousness.
I woke up panting and covered in sweat. I was tangled in my sheets and couldn't place where I was for a moment. I looked around and my eyes slowly adjusted to the light. I was in my room at the pack house. Taking a deep breath, I untangled myself from my bed and slowly put my feet on the cold hardwood floor. After a moment, I stood up and walked over to my closet. It had been 3 days since the pack meeting and the ball was tonight. I didn't really care for it but if I didn't go, I'd never hear the end of it from my parents.
Rummaging around I found something worth wearing and got dressed. I threw my hair back into a bun and put shoes on. Looking in the mirror, I sighed. "Today is just another pointless day" I said outloud. Rolling my eyes at myself for talking to myself as if it would change anything, I walked out my door.
Fast forward a few hours...
It was almost time for the ball and I needed to get ready before my mother came unhinged on me. I found a black ball gown that I had been saving for some special event and I slipped into it.

After I got myself situated, I put my hair up into a simple bun and threw some makeup on.
I walked out of my room and down the staircase as my mother hollered up at me. When she saw me, tears welled up in her eyes and I chuckled slightly.
"Oh my baby girl, you're so gorgeous!" My mother fawned over me.
"Mom, it's just a mate ceremony. I'm not going to prom or something" I said, trying to calm her down some.
She giggled and gestured for a picture. I posed so she would let me off the hook and afterwards I said goodbye and headed down to the commons.
The place was packed with people and I could barely see through the crowd to find my sister. All of a sudden a strong scent hit my nose and almost sent me reeling. I could feel my wolf stirring beneath the surface, restless.
Mate. He is here!
She was going crazy and I wasn't used to this feeling. I let her guide me through the crowd until we were only a few feet from a small group of people, who were talking amongst themselves quietly.
One of them was staring off into space before something caught his attention and the next thing I know, his eyes are on me. Peircing blue eyes, black hair. His eyes traveled up and down my body and soon his gaze was back on my face. My wolf leapt in happiness and I sensed that this was him. My mate..
I was overwhelmed and feeling dizzy and as he began walking towards me. I felt my legs give out and I began to fall. A strong pair of arms caught me before I hit the floor and the last thing I saw before losing consciousness completely was those mesmerizing blue eyes..
