I walked home alone.

No one seemed to pay attention to the new kid. No one cared if I would end up dead the next day.

In this world, crime rates have skyrocketed ever since the pandemic that enveloped the world 2 years ago.

And yet,

I walked home without any safety.

In our society in became normal to walk in groups 24/7 to ensure safety.

I did not care.

All I care about is stopping the mundane life i am living right now.

I try to compensate with making love with women and yet, It never felt right in the end.

Lee Eun Jung was different yet,

I don't feel any romantic connection other that her body.

Is that normal?

I guess so.

While I was deep in those ideas,

I have been pick pocketed three times on my way home.

They stole nothing but my fake wallet filled with flyers, a watch I stole from an ex-lover, and my earphones.

I feel empty.

I entered the police station to report it as usual.

The police force is stretched way too thin to care about thefts anymore. I only report it to keep track of the things I lost.

Someday ill see those things again.

I passed a dark street and saw several people fighting with knives and showing their guns. Why do they even show off?

Were they just normal people who were effected by the new social norms? Who were they before all of this mess?

I noticed a girl approaching me from behind with a knife.

I turned around and looked her in her eyes.

Her eyes were as blue as the sky.

Her small hands shaked as she pointed the knife towards my chest.

She was beautiful.

I reached for my bag,

"Wai- Wait!" She shouted with an innocent voice

Her voice even in that tone,

It was calming.

"Put your hands uhm.. put it up!" She blushed as she pointed the knife closer to my chest.

I did as told.

She came closer to inspect me and she realized her hands were full.

She instinctively gave me the knife which i took without hesitation.

She does not realize that I could kill her right now.

What am I doing?

Why cant I just stab her and get going.

Don't tell me-

I'm liking this?

She rustled my bag and patted my chest.

"Uhm-" she blushed.

"Do you cash? I don't need your other things." She looked at me like an innocent puppy.

I pulled out some bills from my back pocket and laid it on her hands.

Her face lit up with a bright smile.

"Thank you!" She said as she pulled down her black hoodie.

Her hair seemed so soft.

Her hoodie somehow made her look taller.

She looked to be around 4 feet 9 inches.

"You know you should not say thank you to the person you are robbing." I laughed.

She looked down in shame.

"Hey look here." I said as i lifted up her chin with my fingers.

Her eyes sparkled with tears.

My heart skipped a beat.

"Beautiful." She said as a single tear dropped from her left eye.

"Me?" I asked.

"No, Look behind you." She said as she pointed behind me.

I looked behind me and saw the sun setting with beautiful golden rays.

-ONE YEAR LATER-

"ISAAC!" a small voice erupted from the window.
