On Sunday, just a week after I left my parent's house I headed to the naming ceremony. I wore an ankara dress with a black sandal.

I drove to Rotimi's house where the naming ceremony will take place . When I got there I parked my car outside. The gate was opened and I walked in, there were chairs arranged in the compound, I then sat down on one of the chairs since the ceremony had started.

After the pastor gave a short message, it was time for offering before announcing the baby's name when the bowl got to me I dropped a 500 naira note in the bowl and passed it to the next person. After that the pastor told us to say after him as he announced the names

"And this child shall be called.... Oluwasemilore " the pastor said
"oluwasemilore!" we all chorused
"Mary "
"Mary! "
"Jesutofunmi "
"jesutofunmi! "
"Michelle "
"Michelle!"
"daughter of Rotimi "
"daughter of Rotimi! "

After the name was announced, Rotimi gave a vote of thanks which was followed by a closing prayer by the pastor.

After the prayers were said I went to my car to carry the gift I brought for the baby. I then went to look for simi. I saw her in one of the rooms breastfeeding the baby
"hello simi "
"how are you? " she asked
"I'm fine "
"thank you for coming "
"you're welcome and please have this " I said as I handed over the gift to her.
"thank you very much, I really appreciate this " she said as she collected the gift from me.
"you're welcome .where is Rotimi? "
"he should be outside "
"OK let me go and check on him, see you later " I said as I walked out of the room

I went outside and I looked around, I then saw him around the gate side speaking to someone, I then went ahead to meet him.
"Rotimi! " I called
"Ah!  Ife, you're here "
"no o I'm not here you're just imagining things " I said trying to be sarcastic and both of them started laughing (the other person he was talking to )
"thank you for coming "
"you're welcome "
"ah forgive me, Ife meet my best friend, Tomide. Tomide meet my colleague Ife "
"just your colleague? " I asked
"and my very good friend " he added
"it's nice to meet you " Tomide said stretching out his hand as he smiled
"same here " I said as I shook his hand.
"ok, please come with me " Rotimi said as he led me to a table where I was served food.

After eating and talking to Rotimi for a while I left the place and headed home.

Thank you for reading
Two of the baby's name are in Yoruba
Oluwasemilore - God has done me a favour
Jesutofunmi - Jesus is enough for me
When I put "daughter of Rotimi " it just means that's her last name.
