Frank was still shaken from his actions the previous day. It had barely been sixteen hours since he had killed the woman he had known as his coworker. It was 1 a.m. and it was the only thing that he could focus on, despite Gerard barely being inches away from him sleeping soundly. He was faced away from Frank, laying on his side. Frank so desperately wanted to touch him, shift his hand a few inches to him and pull the older boy close. However, he didn't want to wake him; nor hurt him. He felt like he hurt everyone he touched. The threats of the BWC weighed heavy on his heart, the threats of killing Gerard plagued his tired mind. He couldn't imagine losing Gerard because of his own petty nature.

In a way though, he had already hurt Gerard. He killed Mikey. Although he told himself the boy was already doomed; that he was a few minutes from either killing himself or infected wounds that hadn't been cleaned. It was a lie, but it was a reassuring lie.

Gerard stirred in his sleep, turning over to face Frank. "Hey," He slurred tiredly, "You're still awake?" He rubbed at his eyes, a lazy smile plastered on his face when he saw Frank's open eyes.

"Yeah, couldn't sleep," Frank hummed, "You should go back to bed, though. You have a big day ahead of you...,".

"Yeah..., Mikey..," Gerard mumbled sadly, his smile immediately dropping "I-it's hard enough to actually believe he's dead...I just like to think that maybe he's still just hiding out in his room...reading comics or some shit. I can't believe the funeral is only a handful of hours away..,".

"Hey..," Frank frowned, watching as Gerard's eyes slowly glistened over from forming tears, "I'm here for you," He rubbed his back, cautiously pulling him closer into a hold.

"I-I know..," Gerard mumbled, "I ju-just miss him," He started bawling into Frank's shirt, clutching onto the dark material. "I'm n-not ready t-to say....go-good...goodbye,".

"It doesn't have to be goodbye, baby," Frank kissed the top of his head, playing with Gerard's hair to try and relax him, "Just a....just a short parting. You'll see him again," He promised, "After you've lived your life for both you and him,".

"H-he was so young...," Gerard whimpered, burying his face in Frank's chest to muffle his sobs.

"Shhh....baby," Frank hushed him, just holding him closely until he felt Gerard's sobs quiet and his hold on his shirt go limp from Gerard drifting back to sleep. His eyes were red from crying, his skin still wet from fresh tears. Frank hated himself for the pain he caused him, he knew that no matter what Gerard would carry the pain. Decades from now, the older boy would still blame himself for his brother's death; believing it was his fault and unbeknownst that the one he called his lover had stopped his brother's heart that night.

In the morning, the pair of boys were woken up by Gerard's parents. Frank had still been holding Gerard close from hours before, unaware that in the night he had hooked a leg around the older boy as well. Embarrassed, he shifted away from Gerard, who either wasn't phased or was too depressed to give a fuck.

"We've got your clothes, they're hanging on your door," Gerard's mom told her son, seeming on edge since it was a stressful day, "If you need a belt, just ask your father. I'm sure he has an extra laying around. That goes for Frank too, I don't know if he has his own..," She continued, just earning a quiet mumble from Gerard.

"I know, I know,".

"If you're hungry, there's leftovers you two can eat for breakfast," She spoke quietly, turning away and leaving the room once she realized she wasn't going to receive a response.
