It was the day. The day that is usually surrounded in a big red circle in most teenage girls calendars; prom.
Five days after waking up in the hospital I had been discharged and allowed to return home; just in time for prom.
Despite the fact that I had only been home for a few days, Dad had agreed that I could go to the dance as long as I was with someone at all times. At first I tried to convince him that I wouldn't leave Edward's side but that didn't seem to do the trick.
Thankfully, Alice had caught sense of my Dad's mistrust in Edward and instead managed to assure him that she would be with me the whole time. Turns out that Dad actually likes Alice so she was able to assure him.
So that night, Alice popped round with Rosalie to help me get ready. I still wasn't as capable as I was before my accident. They had given me crutches to use to make sure my body was still steady but I hadn't used them as of yet.
It took just over an hour for Rose and Alice to help me get ready.
When I was ready, I grabbed my clutch bag and made my way out to the hallway. Even from up here I could feel the awkwardness between Dad and Edward so I thought it would be best if I put them out of their misery.
At the bottom of the stairs, I poked my head slightly around the corner to see Dad taking a long gulp of his beer while Edward sat staring out the window.
