"It's good to be paralyzed," Avery lets out a sarcastic comment as he chills.
Bored, Avery decides to visit Cassie. He takes the bus and goes to Santa Clarita. Thirty minutes later, he reaches Cassie's house. Nervous, Avery presses the doorbell.
"Hi. Can I help you?" A woman opens the door.
"Um...yeah. Is Cassie here?" Avery stutters.
"Oh yeah. She is!" The woman exclaims.
"Cass! Someone's here to see you!" The woman calls Cassie.
"Coming, mom!" Cassie exclaims as she comes to the door.
"Oh hey, Avery! How have you been doing?" Cassie is surprised to see Avery at her doorstep.
"I'm fine. Cramps on legs but I'm okay," Avery smiles.
"You should come in. It's getting really dark," Cassie tries to let Avery in but declines.
"No. No. I'll be on my way home in a minute. Just wanted to visit you," Avery nervously smiles.
"Oh and I brought you these," Avery hands Cassie a box of churros.
"It's your favorite food," Avery chuckles.
"Um...yeah. Thanks for this. You didn't have to but thanks," Cassie smiles.
"Anyways, I gotta go," Avery walks away.
"That didn't go so well," Avery mutters to himself.
Unable to to find any buses, Avery decides to walk to their house.
"This sucks," Avery said in disappointment.
"Ah. Crap," Avery sees a glimpse of Jack's car following him.
"Hey, faggot! Why you beggin in the streets?" Jack exclaims as he laughs.
"I bet your parents lost their job!" Jack says as he laughs with his friends.
Avery tries to ignore Jack's scornful comments about him but one of Jack's friends throws a piece of food to Avery causing him to fall. However Jack's friend's action prompted Jack to speed up and leave Avery alone.
"Great. Now I smell like beef," Avery picks up his clutches and tries to stand up.
Unable to walk long distances, Avery decided to call his father to pick him up. Fifteen minutes later, Zach arrived only to see Avery sitting down on the sidewalk.
"Why do you smell like burger?" Zach asked as Avery entered the car.
"Long story, dad," Avery pulls out his phone.
Zach, worried about Avery decides to talk to him about standing up to Jack.
"Come on, kid. You can tell me anything," Zach tries to comfort Avery.
"But how? I'm this kid with the clutches now," Avery exclaimed.
"I didn't say you need to fight him," Zach replied.
"Then what? Talk to him? No one can get through Jack in a peaceful manner, alright?" Avery sighs.
"You're wrong. People can change. If you believe they can," Zach looks at his son.
"Plus we're Yalemans, we can get through anything," Zach chuckles as he pats Avery's back.
The following day...
Avery decides to confront Jack and goes back to Cassie's house. Heavily breathing, Avery knocks on Cassie's door and asks for Jack.
"Oh. Is Jack with you?" Avery asks as soon as Cassie opens the door.
