"So, what job would you want to get?"

That's my grandfather. He always talks about these things, things that will only happen in the future. For now, dream on.

I pondered how I'll answer this question. I had wanted to be a doctor when I was 5, then an author, but how will that work out? I like to write English books, and I'm Chinese--who would read English books written by a Chinese author?

An actress. That's what I would want to be. But that's a secret. Somehow, I had found that embarrassing. But really, I had only had this thought since...

Well, I'd better introduce myself. My name is Sylvia, Sylvia Meng. My Chinese name is 梦燃. To be honest, I quite like my name. It would be what I would have named myself if I could have given myself a name.

I was born in ChongQing, although I don't know much about my hometown. I had only lived there for a year before our whole family moved to BeiJing, the capital of China. That was because most of my relatives lived there too.

This introduction of me could go on forever. I'll just keep it short--no siblings, a bit hotheaded, lots of friends, grades good enough--that's how I would have decribed myself to anyone. Now, to more pressing matters, like the present conversation.

"Um...I dunno." I fidgeted in my seat on the sofa. My dream is a secret and going to be.

But then grandfather popped up a really unsuspecting question that nearly made me fall off my chair.

"If someone gave you a chance to act in a movie or something, would you do it?"

A bit too close to home, mind you.

"Uh...I suppose I would, it sounds fun."

That's when grandfather said something that changed my life forever.

"You know, on some rare occasions, a director of a movie or a TV episode would come to a school and find some children with talent. Usually because they need young people but can't find a trained one."

That made me super excited. But I didn't pursue the subject.

I was still thinking about that the next day. I also discussed it with my friends.

Oh, and let me tell you about my friends. I got 2 close friends, Crystal and Leo. Weird, right? One of my friends is a boy. Most girls are very sensitive about this, but I don't mind, neither does Crystal.

Of course, they are all Chinese. Crystal's name is 金慧寻. She's really brainy. Needless to say, her grades are the best in my class, and the whole grade, actually. She plays the violin, and has a younger sister which she adores.

Leo is the bit of the opposite. His name is 宋昌佳明. His grades are so bad that his parents have given up on him. He likes basketball, and loves annoying everyone.

We entered the school together. And yes, we were talking about the subject I brought up.

"I wouldn't do it," Crystal was saying, "I hate crowds. And cameras pointing at me."

Crystal doesn't seem to get the thrill of that.

Leo grinned. "I would, defintely would! We could be famous..."

His voice rambled on and on as I zoned out. Being famous would be great, but that was literally impossible. Besides, think of all that publicy, some people just couldn't stand the pressure.

Literally impossible...literally impossible... Those two words drifted around in my head when someone rapped me on the shoulder.

I turned to see Leo. "What?"

"Nothing," Leo said, "We've just arrived at the classroom already, didn't you notice?"

With that, he and Crystal ran into the room, leaving me behind. Muttering to myself, I followed them.

Immediatly, I realised something was wrong. The teachers in front were looking so tense that they weren't even caring about the very noisy students behind them. And it was getting noisier by the second.

Then, just as Leo was about to join the fun, Mrs. Liu, our class teacher, rapped her hand on the blackboard. (It has become a habit for her.)

The class snapped to attention.

Mrs. Liu beckoned our Chinese teacher, Mr Wang, forward and whispered something to him.

Since the class was in one of its rare silent modes, I could hear the words, "Explain...them...coming...today...excited."

So, someone is coming to school today, eh?" I wonder who...

Mr. Wang cleared his throat. "Good morning, class." We started to stand up and say our greetings, but he waved us down. "Today, we have a very important thing to tell you." The class gave murmurs of interests. "A director of a movie is coming to inspect the students of the age 10-12. He wants to find a girl with the potential to act."

Wait. This could not be happening. Never, in a zillion years, have I thought this would happen to me. I'm 11, which means I could be picked!

Suddenly, I became extra aware of the noises around, the boys shouting "unfair!", the girls screaming, and the teachers hollering "quiet down!", and Crystal, as still as a rock beside me, the only sign of a calm presense in this room.

I couldn't stand this anymore. Without asking if I could, I sprinted out of the room, and into the girls toilet.

No one was inside. So I let out a scream.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

A/N: I know I didn't write anything about TFBOYS yet, but I will. It will get way more exciting...
