"Rosalie Darling, it's time to get up" that was
the voice of my mother. I listened to her footsteps slowly fade away as she sauntered downstairs. I opened my eyes to embrace the morning dew. I sat up in my bed and began to rub my eyes. The dream I had last night was great, I was at a party with my best friend Antoinette and I didn't return until gone midnight. Too bad my mother would never allow me to a party as she believes they are a waste of time and especially if she knew my dear Antoinette would be there. She has forbidden me to befriend Rich people like her but I always ignore her commands. I listlessly roll out of my mellow sheets and begin galavanting towards the door and down the narrow stairs. "Good morning mother dear" I intone whilst grabbing a small glass of water. Mother was laying the table for breakfast. "Ah Rosalie you're awake, good, can you dish the food up sweetie?" She inquired. "Sure I can" I say as I pull 2 plates out of the cupboard and a wooden spoon. Mother was cooking eggs and toast on the fire stove which was my favourite. I spoon them up and place an egg on each plate and a slice of toast. "These eggs look nice" I chirpily say. "Thanks dear" she replies and sits down. I grab the plates and place them carefully on the wooden table. It was rather small, just a 4 seater, and the you could see the wood slowly chipping away. "Rosalie?" Mother says. "Yes"
I look confused, what does she want to say? "Promise me you will stay away from Antoinette because I don't want you near her" she says sternly. I drop my fork "but mother-"
"No buts Rosalie! You will stay away from her"
One thing I've learned in life Is to never mess with mums. I sigh and look at her. "I promise.." muttering quietly, I look at the table. "Good" she proceeds to get up and put her plate away. I continue eating engaging in every delicious mouthful. I feel the crunch of the toast and the watch the yolk run out of the egg and all over the plate, leaving puddles of orange gloop. "I'm off to work now, goodbye Rosie" mother says interrupting my daydreams. "Bye, have a good day" I wave as she opens the door. "And stay away from that girl" she shuts the door, leaving me alone. I just stare at my plate. I'm not staying away from my friend and my mother can't make me I think angrily to myself. I get up and start washing up the pots before getting dressed for my first day back to school Today, I am wearing a black silk dress, which used to be my mothers. It's getting quite old and the netting at the bottom is starting to fray and the it's slowly loosing its colour but we can barely afford a new one. I open my tiny wardrobe and pull out a pair of my white shoes. Grabbing my backpack, I excitedly race out of my room and begin my journey.

The road to school was very long. I attend a private school you see, only because my father is the janitor. At the minute he is staying at his brothers since he has no work but will be returning tonight luckily. I pace down the street and up the tall hill. I stare out into the distance admiring all of the posh houses at the other side of town. The view is amazing. You can see for miles when stood on top of the hills and you In case you are wondering, I live on the poorer side but it's alright because you get used to it eventually. My friend Antoinette lives on the Richer side, in a big fancy house. She even has a swimming pool built into her back garden and a fireplace in her living room. I wish we had a fire place too because it gets awfully chilly in the winters. Our house is small and has very limited space. I realise how little my house is to Antionette's, the  best thing I own is my Great Grandmas pearl necklace that she gave me before she passed. The silver chain is now rust and the Pearl barely shines but I'll forever cherish it. We don't even have a car so we have to walk everywhere or take the bus. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be rich. You'd have so much more freedom and money. Anyway I suppose I better get walking to school as I really do not want to be late on my first day back.

I finish admiring the idyllic view and make my way to school. I come across the river and watch the the water subduedly run down the bank, i place my foot gently on the stepping stones and make my way across. Even so, i still slip and end up soaking through my Lace ups. I better not tell mother or she will not be happy as she saved up all summer to get the money to buy them for me. Once I had crossed the river, I sat down and took off my shoes. I pulled a tissue out of my coat pocket and tried my best to dry them. Once they were wearable again, I slipped them back on and prowled down the pavement. Once at school, luckily i had just made it in time, i found my peg and put away my things. Unexpectedly, I was frightened by a hand on my shoulder. I jumped a little and turned around to Antionette giggling at me. "Gosh, Anti, you scared the living soul out of me!" I hollered at her quietly.
"Oops, i'm Sorry Rosie, I thought it would be funny" She carried on her laughing, soon, I was laughing along with her. "So" she asked after what seemed to be forever "How are you?"
She was always so formal, and used proper grammar. I suppose you do when you are raised by a rich family.
"I'm fine I suppose, how about you?"
"I'm great" she replied with a smile.
"That's good, Do you like my new shoes" I asked eagerly.
She looked down at my shiny white shoes.
"Yes, they're lovely, a little bit...umm...mucky however"
"Oh yes, I slipped on a stone this morning and fell into the river"
I looked into her Blue eyes, Embarrassed.
"Oh, it's ok Darling, here"
She pulled out a Lacey black Cloth and a bottle of Evian water.
Instantly, she tipped a little onto the cloth and began to wipe my shoes.
"Thank you but you really didn't have to" I say sheepishly. A couple of girls stared at me, probably because I don't look posh at all, and walked away. They were wearing Ginger Rogers long coats and cute coloured sandals, they even had pure leather handbags, something I could never afford. I watched in awe as they strode past. "Alright, there" a voice declared. It was Antoinette. I admired my lovely shoes. They shone so well I could practically see my reflection in them. "Oh my lord, thank you so much" I jumped lightly and hugged her. She smiled and giggled lightly, "it was nothing, Rosalie"
"Oh but it was, they look so much better" I implied to her.
"Well nothing a little clean can't do"
"Anyway, you should head to class" I tell her and she nodes her head, walking away. "Goodbye dear" she waves and makes her way to lesson. Too bad she is in year 11, told you I would not listen to mother, although i feel bad for breaking the promise, but I just could not leave her.

I skipped to class, where I met my friend Clarity. She was a short girl with long, puffy
raven black hair that reached down to her waist. Today, it was tied back in a ponytail and she looked very nice. "Hello Clarity!" i exclaimed zestfully. I like her because although she was posh, she was very kind hearted and always helped the poor. "Oh, hello Rosie, how are you?" she asked, turning around to smile at me. "i'm very well thanks" I reply before pulling her into a light hug. She hugged me back before letting go, it was time to go into class, so she walked in and i trailed behind. We were in English which i did not really enjoy, on top of that, i was sat next to a supercilious (snobby) boy named christopher. He was very tall and had grey/silver eyes that perfectly matched his silky white hair. From across the room, I could see Clarity chatting away to her Partner.
"Oi, Rosaline" a voice called, of course it was Christopher. He loved bullying me for the fact that i'm only here on a scholarship.
"What is it?" i asked, rather bored of his attitude. "Don't what me, i'm not the odd one out of the school, you shouldn't even be here" he spat horribly.
"Will you be quiet for once, at least I'm not spoilt and stuck up like you!" I glared at him, annoyed. He was death stared me and turned around, I wasn't surprised as our teacher walked up to us. "Are you even paying attention?" He asked Sharply.
"Yes sir, sorry sir" I say instantly. I had to be especially good in this school as I could be kicked out any minute. As soon as my father quits his job, I'll be out as well. I like going here though, I feel sort of important. Although I know full well, as well as the rest of the school, that I do not belong here.
"I would keep quiet if I was you, Rosalie. You are only here because if your father" he turned around and carried on With the lesson. I glimpsed at Christopher, who was now smirking at me. Gosh, I hate that boy.

Finally, school was over and I was able to meet my best friend and we could have time together. I love home times for that reason. "Hello Antoinette" I chirped as I saw her walk by me. "Rosie!" She jumped up and hugged me tightly. "How was your day?" I asked as we began walking out of the school. "It was ok, pretty boring though. However miss Jenson did bring in cakes for us" she was clearly enlivened by this and I was happy she was. "How about your day?"
We made it out of the school gates strolled past the beautiful field of Petunias. It was beautiful. "My day was boring, Christopher was tormenting me again" I look at her and she wasn't happy. "Not again?" She sighs.
"Yeah but it's ok" I reply. She worried too much but I didn't want to concern her. "No it isn't, just because you may not be as wealthy as him, does it mean you shouldn't be in our school, it's just a school!" She had gotten angrier any every word. She helped me cross the stepping stones so u do not fall again and I try to calm her. "Don't worry too much" I say and she finally smiles. "Alright well, I must leave you now, im really not allowed to be with you" looking at the floor, she rubs her arm. "Me too actually" it was clear that none of our parents wanted us to be friends. We say our goodbyes and depart to our houses. I had actually thought I had gotten away without being caught but when I had reached the garden the expression on my mother's face, both angry and hurt, had proven to me that I had messed up big time. This was not going to end well, I thought.
