Im not very educated butttt

From what i know, a child's personality grows from a young age and within the time of growth if they experience trauma (repeatedly) for the child, their mind creates amnesiac walls to prevent the child from realizing what is truly happening  around them. When this happens, think of each amnesiac wall as an alter. the child will not know they have DID as their brain prevents that, as it is too protect the child in the first place. Those with DID dont normally get diagnosed into late teens/ early adult as they themselves dont even know their is a "problem", until they start to black out and wake up in a new place (as in like watching a movie not like actually moving, this being the alters changing) so you get different alters, peace keepers, protectors, littles...within the mind, the alters run the system (each alter has an important role within the system) Alters are living people all with different names and memories. when an alter begins to front, the host or whoever is in control of the body at that current moment will begin to dissociate for anther alter to front, to front they can have positive or negative tributes (or triggers) an example of this would be like If they waled in front of a big toy store or candy shop, a little can get excited and most likely front. What they show in the movie  "Split" is very inaccurate as someone with DID is even less likely to  hurt someone than the average person because of the trauma they have endured makes it less likely for them to inflict pain onto someone else. There is so more more to DID but i will stop there for now. feel free to correct me on any mistakes :))

For more info on DID i suggest you watch DissociaDID
