We were still thinking about our last adventure, all those amazing memories I would never forget. The journey was superb! We wished to visit there once more, but why should we? An adventure is an adventure, and we can't bring all the fun back. But we badly wanted an adventure to get our mind off the stupid classes. We were somehow late for our classes today and we were doing our detentions. I really dream of a school where there wouldn't be any punishments. It would be heaven. It was so unfair. Teachers could come to college lately, but students can't. Why is it like that? Who knows?
We returned to our houses after detention. We had a sleepover at Sterla's house tomorrow. So I packed my bags in advance. We met each other the next day, at school, of course. It was Computer-science class. The teacher taught us about robotics and all those sci-fi things. I was fascinated. How amazing it would be if we could travel to the future too? Unfortunately we can't do that. Or can we? We hadn't tested the time machine for the future yet. What if it could teleport us to the future too? It was a marvelous idea.
Soon after the classes ended, we met up together at Sterla's place and I told them my idea.
'I have to admit that it is a good idea. But is it possible? What if we become trapped inside the time machine forever? We don't have to take risks, Sophia' said Clare.
'You guys were against my idea of travelling to the Jurassic World, right? You said that the time machine might be a fake, and what happened? Was I right?' I asked.
'Yes, you were right then. But even a perfect person can make mistakes. See sense mate' said Emma.
'You are my friends and you always disagree with me, and all those times I was right. Please believe me' I said.
'Alright Soph. We believe you. But if something goes wrong, you will be responsible for it' said Sterla.
'Ok, I will take the responsibility. So can we move now?' I asked.
'Yeah' said Sterla and we packed our essentials. I took the time machine and rotated its dial forwards. We began to swish uncontrollably. It was so fast that my mind went blank. Had something went wrong? Had I dragged my friends into trouble? What if Sterla was right? What would happen_ All my thoughts vanished as soon as it stopped abruptly. I opened my eyes and needed time to consider the whole situation. Something was wrong. This was neither the future nor the past. It was the present. We looked at each other. Our clothes hadn't changed, but our surroundings had.
We were not in USA. We were in India.
We looked around astounded. We were in a beach and the people around us were Indians. We saw many fishermen walking with poles and fishing rods. We could tell from the surroundings that we had arrived in Kerala, the God's Own Country. Many people had also come to visit the beach and there were people who lived nearby too. We could spot a few Americans like us too. We hadn't ever visited India, we didn't get a chance. Now as we had arrived here quite accidently, this was a very good opportunity to explore around.
'How about it, guys? We couldn't visit the future. How about exploring the present?' I asked raising my eyebrows.
'Good idea. I had been thinking about it too. We have come here anyway, so we could just travel around India a bit. What's your opinion?' asked Sterla.
'I do not have a good feel about this, but ok' said Clare. Emma gave a thumbs-up and I smiled. We explored the beach. We were tired and drained after some time and decided to rest. But where? We had decided to stay here for some days. We were disappointed as we didn't find any place fit for us to stay. We would have to stay in some inn or hotel nearby. But as we walked some more, we saw a big mountain. We decided to climb it, it would be exciting. We started climbing, and when we reached half the mountain, we were drenched with sweat. We felt so exhausted and dizzy. But we had to move on to reach the top. We gripped each other's hands and continued the climb. It was an unending one. The sun was setting, but we still hadn't reached the top. At last, we reached there. We reached the summit. The mountain was too high. The people beneath us appeared as small specks of dust. It was a marvelous sight.
