IT'S JUNE. In the days where everything is flecked with gold. It's the summer of melted ice creams, sweaty palms and daydreams. The sun glares down, beating against my back and whispers in the wind speak of change. When you're seventeen, everything feels like the end of the world. Or the beginning...
Remus' hair appeared a lovely shade of bronze, as it fell into his eyes, caught by the sun. His iris' glowed, pools of wild honey. Summer had never looked so godamn fine. Freckles dotted his cheeks, nose and just under his eyes. Prominent signs of being kissed by the sun. Few scars decorated his face, no longer red and raised, but just lines, that ran across his chin, lips and cheek. I had learnt their trails of by heart; where they stopped and where they began.
A tiny ladybird fluttered and dropped onto my hand. It scuttled about and ran over my fingers. I brought it up to my eyes and watched the little creature with a childlike joy.
"Isn't she wonderful?" I asked, showing Remus the tiny bug.
"She?" He asked, leaning closer to watch its tiny feet rush about.
"Males tend to be smaller than females and the females have brighter colours," I murmured, watching her flutter away and fly with the wind.
"Aren't you a clever one," He smirked, pulling me towards him and wrapping an arm over my shoulder.
"I think I read it in a book once," I replied, my fingers brushing over his, as a smile too fell across my lips.
"Oi! You two!" Our moment was stopped by none other than Sirius Black.
The dark haired man dropped, from his place in one of the overhanging oak trees. The Lord of misrule himself.
"Guess what," He grinned, jogging over to us.
Peter trailed behind him, stumbling slightly in the long grass.
"Nice to see you too," Remus chuckled.
I'd seen that look in Sirius' eyes before, he held a secret in those dark iris'. Like a child, he bounced excitedly on the balls of his feet.
"Whats got you so excited, Black?" I questioned crossing my arms over my chest.
"Theres a lot to discuss,"
The three of us followed Sirius, as he bounded through the field, just like a dog. We stopped short of The Black Lake.
The grass laid shorter, but even in the bright sun, it hadn't yellowed. Not like the grass at home. I guessed there was a charm in place.
