Chapter 1

Kakasimula lang ng first semester. Dali-dali akong umakyat sa fourth floor ng department namin dahil late na ako. Kung di dahil sa maarte kung kapatid hindi sana ako nagmamadali ng ganito. First subject ko ngayon ay Large Animal surgery, which is napaka terror ng instructor ko at ayaw na ayaw sa late.

Malapit na ako sa Lab at hinay-hinay kung binuksan ang back door. Pumasok ako at hinarap ang sermon ni Doc. Martin.

"Miss Casti, you even dared to enter the Lab." Puna ni Doc Martin. Napapikit ako saka napabuntong hininga. Pagmulat ko ay lumingon ako sa mga nakatingin kung kaklase na nakasuot na ng Lab gown.

Matamis akong ngumiti bago nag salita.

"Doc, I run into som---"

"Just sit down." Aniya saka nagpatuloy sa lecture.

Pinili ko ang bakanteng upuan malapit sa bintana at sinuot na ang Lab gown. Tinali ko ang mahaba kung buhok at kinuha na rin ang notebook at libro.

"Bakit ka ba late?" my friend Kiwi whispered.

"May nakabangga kami ng kapatid ko." Sagot ko habang naka tingin sa harap at nagsusulat ng mga notes. Di na niya ako inabala at nakinig na siya sa lecture.

That was true. May naka gitgitan kami sa parking lot ng isang coffeshop malapit sa school. It was just a minor scratch sa pinto ng passenger seat. Pwede naman yon pag usapan or just get the number of one of those guys and will negotiate after class. But no, my gay brother Damien didn't let the opportunity to pass. He started flirting with the owner of the car even though I almost drag him back into our car.

It's not entirely his fault though. I somewhat give him a pass to do whatever he wants just because I couldn't take my eyes off with the other guy. Yes! I stayed just because of a guy.

Napailing ako ng maalala ang ngiti niya. His sweet appearance that can melt the heart of every woman he meets. And I melted just by looking at his smile. I was charmed kaya nakalimutan ko na na may klase pa pala ako.

Napabuntong hininga ako. I didn't even get his name. Makikita ko pa kaya siya? Should I ask my brother instead?

Natapos na ang four hour lecture ko ay sabay na kami ni Kiwi bumaba para pumunta sa cafeteria malapit sa Department building namin. Nasa northern part ng University ang department na katabi ng Agriculture department na malapit sa burol at malawak na taniman. I took up Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Malawak ang Easton University kaya sumasakay kami ng shuttle para pumunta sa iba ibang building. Habang sakay na kami ng shuttle ni Kiwi papunta sa cafeteria ay naramdaman ko ang pag vibrate ng phone ko. Sinagot ko ang tawag mula kay Damien.

"Illya, I got us a date!" Excited na sabi niya. Napakunot noo ako at napabuntong-hininga.

"With who?" curious na tanong ko.

Please let it be-

"Tristan Cruz, yung sabi ko sayo na may crush sayo."Nadismaya ako.

"Not interested." Hindi ko pa nga nakikita yung Tristan. Why would I date him just that? Unless my brother has something he wants from that guy and he will use me again.

"Come on, tita niya si Monica Cruz. The Monica Cruz!"

"So?" batid ko na medyo naiirita. He's at it again. Using me to paved his way to what he wants. Which is also my opportunity to get what I want.
