|AMBROSIA HURRIED OUT OF THE FOREST, mud sticking to her boots. She tried to be careful of fallen branches and slippery puddles as she jogged out. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Edward's number. After a few rings, he spoke.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Edward, it's Ambrosia." She said.
"You're late. You were supposed to arrive 34 minutes and 21 seconds ago." Edward said, making Ambrosia groan in annoyance.
"Well I was caught up with something, can I come over, now, by chance?" She asked, shifting on her feet.
"Uh..." He trailed of for a minute, and Ambrosia could hear some murmurs in the background. "No, we're busy at the moment." He was trying to figure out a way for this to work. Earlier today he had just confessed his secret to Bella.
"Really? I just interrupted something important to call you, and now your bailing?"
"Perhaps you should come over another time of the week." He replied.
She sighed. "Alright. Just tell me when, and I'll be there." She said, nodding to herself. And then he hanged up. "Rude." She rolled her eyes. She looked around and cold see the top of her house's lights on. Her mother was home, finally.
She jogged to her houses porch, and climbed up the stairs. She opened her front door and her nose was instantly filled with the smell of fresh Italian food. She shut the door and walked to the kitchen, spotting her mother dancing to some music as she stirred something in the pot.
"How's the pasta coming along?" Ambrosia asked, making her mother jump.
"Oh, hunny you scared me!" She exclaimed, smiling. "It's coming along great. I know you love Italian pasta bakes. They're pretty enjoyable. So, what have you been doing?"
"Well, just hanging out with.. friends."
"Could one of those friends be a boy?" She teased. "That Jacob boy is extremely nice. I heard you had lunch with him a bit ago."
"Oh yeah." She giggled. "He ate the whole menu!" Recalling those hilarious memories. "Yeah but I agree, he's very kind. Not my type though." She whispered the last bit.
"Huh? What was that?" Her mother asked, not catching it.
"Oh, nothing." She looked around at the mess of a kitchen. "Do you need any help?"
