Feel Again (Blake Griffin)

Prologue

Ash POV

August 9th, 2007

        I called Blake, once again, to let him know that I'm coming over. He didn't pick up. I left a voicemail, "hey babe, I'm on my way over. I love you." I pulled up to his house, his car wasn't in the driveway. I decided to go in anyway. I walked in the house, this place had become my second home so it was never odd for me to walk in without knocking. Gail was in the kitchen cooking. 

        "Hey Gail." I said, making sure she knew it was just me.

        "Hey hun, I was expecting to see you earlier but Blake said you had to work and you two had said goodbye last night." She replied.

        "Said goodbye?" I questioned. 

        She looked at me with a puzzled expression. "He didn't tell you? My god, I'm going to kill him."

        "Tell me what?" I asked still confused.

     "Blake left for college today, hun. I can't believe he didn't tell you." She answered all of my questions.

        "What? He said he was taking a year off. Why would he just leave without saying goodbye?" I questioned some more, before leaving.

        I rushed home hoping he would some how magically appear in my driveway to say goodbye. I ran up to my room, tears in my eyes. I found a letter sitting on my bed.

Dear Ash,

        I'm sorry I never told you I couldn't find it in me to hurt you. I promised to never leave but here I am leaving. I'm sorry. We can't maintain this relationship anymore. It hurts, knowing I won't be spending my nights with you anymore. Can you promise me one thing? Move on, be happy. Stay close with my mom please, I beg you.

Blake POV

September 8, 2007

        She's started school by now. I miss her, god, I miss her. I just went to get the mail from my mail locker. There's a letter from her, I'm scared to open it, scared she's going to say she hates me. I tear open the envelope, terrified of the words on the paper inside. 

Dear Blake,

        Why didn't you tell me? I would have understood. This town is terrifying without you. There's this guy his name is Adrian. He's cute but not as cute as you. I miss you. I don't have your number since i got a new phone, text me if you get a chance. I can't wait to watch your games. It was always your dream to be on the big screen.

        I was getting taped for practice when I got a call from my mom. 

        "Hey mom." I answered.

        "Blake, Ash has had her baby!" She got straight to the point. 

        "Wait, she was pregnant?!" I asked shocked.

        "I didn't tell you? Whoops!" She giggled to herself. I rolled my eyes. "Blake, here's the best part, she named him after you, Griffin." She said the baby boy's name.

        "Whose the father?" I asked completely ignoring the child's name. I still loved her so of course I had to ask.  

        "Oh, he's not around anymore, he's in prison for possession and assist of murder." She replied in a disappointed tone.

        "Ash was dating a criminal?" I asked.

        "Yes, but he loved her so much." She quickly replied.

        Doc called me to hurry up. "Alright mom, I have to go. Coach's orders."

        "Okay son, go work your butt off." She encouraged and hung up.

        Ash, a kid, I was still in complete shock. How?
