     - Raymond's POV -

Sigh

It was a gloomy day.

The village was silent.

Our island representative  isolated himself in his house and is most likely going to stay there for a while.

I was sitting on my chair, holding my favorite coffee mug. My eyelids were heavy and my ears drooped.

It had been a long week, for all of us.

So many tears.

So much yelling.

So many-

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard my doorbell ring.

I place my mug down on my desk and walk over to my door, opening it slowly.

"Hey."

It was Marshal.

"What do you need?" I ask him.

"I wanted to talk." He says, his gaze becoming soft.

"Alright" I gesture to him to come in and he does.

I get him a glass of water and place it on my desk next to my coffee mug.

I pick my mug up and take a sip, holding it tightly since it was a gift from someone very dear to me.

"What was it you wanted to talk about?" I ask him as he makes himself comfortable in my house.

"I wanted to talk about your relationship with her."

My eyes widen for a slight moment before going back to normal.

"Alright, what about my relationship with her?" I ask him, not bothering to make eye contact.

"How did you meet her?" I chuckle at his question.

"What do you mean? I've told you." I say.

"Tell me again." He says before taking a drink from his water.

"Alright.."

She had just moved in.

Her house was next to mine.

I went to visit her, I wanted to welcome her to our island.

I knocked on her door, standing tall.

She opened it slowly and carefully.

I looked down at her, she was shorter than me.

"Why hello there!" She said to me sweetly.

"Hello! Welcome to Honey island! My name is Raymond." I say, trying to be as welcome as possible.

She gave me a warm smile.

"(Y/N). Thank you!" She said.

"Your welcome! I can show you around the island if you want!" I say.

"How sweet of you!" She said, her smile becoming brighter.

"I can show you around tomorrow! At 12 pm" I say, putting my hand on my neck, scratching it out of nervousness.

"Yeah. That would be great." She said softly.

"Great! See you tomorrow!" I say, waving bye to her.

"Alright! See you!" She said, closing her door.

Flash Back End -

I sigh, sitting back in my chair.

"You just had to include every detail" Marshal grinned.

"Yeah, I mean, that was probably one of the best days of my life. How could I not?" I say smirking and taking a sip of my coffee.

"I find it quit odd that she accepted your offer, considering she just met you." He says, I shrug it off.

It did not concern me.

"When did you start liking her."

I spit out coffee I was drinking and shot him a look.

"What? It was very obvious you liked her. Practically everyone in the village knew." He said.

I could feel my face heating up.

Was it that obvious?

"Well? Give me my answers. When and why." He said, staring directly into my eyes.

"Why do you want to know." I ask him, a skeptic look washing over my face.

"Just tell me, I think your stories are interesting." He says calmly.

"Alright, well.. I guess you could say I started having feelings for her 2 years after I met her."

I smile to myself. "Just.. The way she was.. was why I liked her."

Marshal leans in, giving me a look so that I know he is listening carefully.

"One day, she ran across the whole island, just so she could get medicine for another person. He didn't even thank her"

My grip on my mug tightened.

"But she didn't care. She just wanted everyone to be happy. She always put others before her."

"Even when she was upset, she was still the sweetest thing."

My smile faltered.

Silence filled the room.

Marshal was quiet.

I put my mug down and took off my glasses.

I cupped my eyes.

It wasn't fair.

"She didn't deserve what happened to her" Marshal mumbles, loud enough so I could hear.

I nod my head, not bothering to move my hands off my face.

...

(Y/N) had passed away due to a 'accident'.

There was a fire that she didn't make.

She just so happened to be in the house that had caught on fire.

No one could save her.

...

I cry softly into my palms.

It wasn't fair.

And what a coincidence, she died on the day I was going to confess my feelings to her.

It's not fair.
