When all the sandwiches were eaten, pop cans were empty, and conversation was over, Jordan untied Winter and we rode back to the stables. It was getting cold in the night air and I was shivering as I tried to get Jordan to cave and make room for me so I could get warm, but he wouldn’t budge.
At the stables, we dismounted and took all of the tack off winter. Her night meal was waiting, the stable owner had already brought it in. Once she was settled in her stall, we hurried to the car as it started to snow.
We hadn’t been prepared for that, but it was perfect. We shared a kiss in the snow and then hurried into the car, our initial goal.
Once inside the car, Jordan pecked my lips and I began to rub my hands together for warmth as I shivered and chattered away.
Jordan started to take off his suit coat, but I told him he didn’t have to. He insisted and I lost the battle.
With his suit coat wrapped around me, Jordan started the car and back to Chloe and Blake’s house.
It was fairly clear outside and the snow hadn’t done any damage to anything, but it could if it snowed any harder or faster. Jordan made sure he was driving cautiously and we were home in not much time.
When we came in the house, Mom and Chloe were sitting in the family. “Lovely of you to show!” Chloe said. “How was your date?”
“You had a date?!” my mom asked.
“Uh, yeah, Mom, we did. It was great, Aunt Chloe.”
“What did you do?” Mom asked.
“We went horse back riding,” I said.
“Fun, but don’t you think you’re home a little late?”
I looked to my wrist for my watch, but forgot I wasn’t wearing it or any of my other bracelets. Everyone else here knew. I didn’t have anything to hide.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“Almost eleven.”
“Isn’t my curfew midnight?” I asked.
“I suppose it is,” my mom said, forgetting the set of rules I’d had since I was thirteen. “Just make sure you get some rest.”
“Will do, Mom.”
Jordan and I, hand and hand, walked up the stairs and parted ways. I let go of his hand, but he grabbed my arm as I turned for my door.
“What is it?” I asked as he pulled me so our chests were touching, or my chest was touching his stomach. I wasn’t very tall, and wearing shoes that had no height didn’t help when trying to see eye to eye with the 6’2” hottie.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
“You don’t have to be. It’s my fault,” I said.
“Yes I do, because we’re a team now and teams stick together.”
The way he just talked to me made me crazy in love with him. I pushed up onto my tippy-toes and kissed him no the cheek.
“A team,” I whispered in his ear as I backed off my toes.
“Let’s go watch a movie,” he said. Because neither of us felt like sleeping.

When I woke up, I was pleasantly confused. At first I didn’t even remember going with Jordan after our date, but my memories quickly came back.
