Chapter 10 Shirou's Birthday

It was another ordinary sunny day.Michiru dragged me from my bed so i could play basketball with her i didn't know the rules but i knew that you had to get the ball to go through that ring

"I-*pant* I give up i cant take this anymore,Stamina has depleted.Time out please."
"Wow Mihiro you really aren't the sports type" She said giggling
"You think?" i asked sarcastically.
"Anyways,What are you getting Shirou today?"

"Get him what?" i asked cluelessly. 
"A gift for his birthday,silly" she answered.

"B-BIRTHDAY??,you didn't tell me it was his birthday today!"
"i thought you knew about it or i must have forgotten,after all Tunukis aren't that witty" she giggled not realizing she was insulting herself.
"This is really bad what am i even gonna get him,what does Shirou even like???"i panicked

"His face is stuffed reading books in his free time maybe you should get him one"She suggested.
"Maybe you're right,but i can't just bring him any book I need to find out which genre he likes"i said determinedly.

(The shelves in his room are full of books maybe that's a good place to start.)

i made my way downstairs and into Shirou's room.

i forgot how early it was as i noticed Shirou still sleeping on his couch.He looked so peaceful and Zen in his sleep just like a puppy. i snickered at the sight of him.

I stopped looking at him as to not get more distracted and started checking the shelves going all detective mode.
He had books of all kinds: culture,Story,adventure and surprisingly even romance.
I turned to one of the shelves that was labeled Favorites then a book peaked my interest. it was a very large Fantasy genre book with a very flashy cover it was about a young warrior traveling the world with his buddies to save his Town and even the World, at least that's what the description on the back said. 
Its a very popular book in the human side,Lyla a friend of mine loved the series even though it was only 2 volumes but they were very large.
(that's it ! i'll just get him the second volume as a gift for his birthday.)
I slid the book back into its rightful spot and as i turned around i bumped into-

"Hey nosy."

"Ahhh! Shirou you almost scared me half to death, d-don't do that!"i gave him a light punch.
"If you want to borrow that book you can just ask"he said with that neutral face of his.
"Oh,Oh no no no no no you got me all wrong i was just looking and the fancy cover got my attention,Ha! you know me"he improvised what i thought was a convincing lie
He tilted his head a bit in confusion.
"Anyways i gotta leave i am on a very important quest" i said as i Took a few stairs down.

*Sigh*"He sure is something..." He looks over as Mihiro leaves the building.

After hours of rushing the streets of anima city checking all the bookshops and libraries for almost all day i finally found it,it took some time and serious bargaining since it was a human product as everything in anima city was completely different but i finally had it.
"THE PERFECT GIFT"I yelled Excitedly getting some awkward stares from some people.
I then hurried to a gift shop and wrapped the book with light blue paper tied with a silver silk butterfly-shaped nott.
along with a little note i slid that i thought he would like.


Shirou's P.O.V :
I got kicked out by Melissa and Michiru stayed to help her out with something
The streets were all clear no sign of criminal activity and the mayor didn't call either for once it was a bad thing.
I had gotten so used to the company of Michiru and Mihiro that i started feeling bored, normally They would start conversations or do Dumb stuff i had to save them from.
Where ever Mihiro is im sure he is occupied with that "important quest" of his.

I wall jumped to a building to get a better view of the city and as i was checking perimeters i noticed Just him walking with a bag in his hand,from the route he is taking he was probably heading back to the co-op but why so late? whenever he went out he always came back early.
 i followed him jumping building to building.

"Shirou i know you're following me!" i hear him call out.Stunned i climbed down and joined him putting my hands in my coat's pockets "hey." i greeted passively although i was happy to see him someone i could talk to you.
"So how did your day go?" he questioned."Boring,i could have used some company."
"Wow,Mr.Ogami Edge lord had a boring day? that's a first!" he joked.
"Don't call me that" he snickered at my annoyed face."How was your quest Human?"i tried joking back."Well it was a very hard quest mind you but i think the treasure was worth it."He winked but i shrugged.

Mihiro's P.O.V :
As we entered the co-op noticing the room was all dark the lights suddenly turned on with the sounds of party poppers.
"Happy Birthday Shirou!" Me,Michiru Melissa and Gem yelled and Kuro flapped his wings happily.
 Shirou's face lit up in surprise a second later he gave a lip tilt struggling to keep his neutral face which i thought was cute.

After a nice dinner we all grouped up around the cake and sang Shirou a happy birthday i notice a small tear drop from his eye it was definitely a tear of joy i could tell he really needed a moment like this one where he would be able to express himself near people he loved,at least i hoped i was one of them...
after a few dart and tabletop games we handed him our presents Michiru had bought him a new collar or chocker as his was in a bad shape Mellissa got him a sweater and Gem got him a black Vest that suited him perfectly. i was very worried seeing as their gifts were clothing i started shivering when he saw mine Looking back at Michiru with a nervous look as she gave me finger guns trying to reassure me.
He gently untied the butterfly nott and unwrapped the gift revealing The second volume of the fantasy book he considered a favorite.
 He stared at it and then came across the note i hid and started reading it.

Shirou couldn't help but smile at the little emoji.

"Soooo what do you think??" Michiru asked unpatiently.
"It's perfect." the words traveled out of his mouth with an obvious smile on his face 
I sank down the table from relief making everyone even Shirou laugh for a moment.

As everyone head to their room to sleep Shirou called out my name stopping me from my tracks "Would you like to set sail on a quest of reading with me?" he asked charmingly which was unlike him.
"I don't see why not" I joined him sitting on the couch Kuro positioning himself on his snowy hair.
"Sooo how was your birthday overall" i questioned."It was good,but you were there for most of it so I'm happy.Next time i would like some company." he gave a lip tilt.

"Noted." Promising I'll do a better job next time.


Hey guys sorry for not updating the last couple of days i had a bit of Writer's block but i should be alright now and i can't believe this book is at 700+ reads it's absolutely phenomenal Thank you guys so much I'm glad people are enjoying this!
P.S i used my laptop to write this as my phone has taken a dump so if there is any mistakes feel free to call them out.
