Chapter Eight: The Perfect House

Today is the day! We're going house hunting this morning, and i wanted to be comfortable so i just went with a oversized grey sweatshirt, black distressed skinny jeans, and white sneakers. I have my hair fishtail braided over my shoulder, and smokey brown makeup. I sprayed on some PINK perfume and then grabbed my bag, phone, and keys and walked out of my room and down the stairs.

"I'm off to house hunt with my friends, i'll be back later, love you guys!" I called out to my family as i entered the kitchen.

"Honey, you don't have to look for a new place right this minute, you just got home!" My mom insisted.

"I agree with your mother, princess. There's no rush, you know i love having my baby girl home." My dad said smiling at me fondly.

"Wow, really?! What about your baby boy? When i asked to move back home after college you acted as if i asked you to give me your arm!" My brother JJ pouted.

"That's because i don't like you, son. Everyone knows Kenslea has always been my favorite.." My dad smirked.

"Jason!" My mom scolded, smacking my father's arm. I laughed and walked over and kissed my father on the cheek and then did the same to my mom while smacking JJ in the back of the head.

"Okay fine, i'm kidding...about the not liking you part....but the Kenslea being my favorite part is true..." He continued smirking and i started laughing.

"I am your first born! I should be your guys' favorite!" JJ exclaimed.

"Yeah, but i'm the baby. You ever stop and ask yourself why they stopped with me?" I questioned with a shit eating grin on my face.

"Because they couldn't handle anymore kids?" JJ asked shaking his head.

"Because they finally got the perfect child so they didn't have to have anymore!" I grinned and flicked my older brother's ear as my parents laughed.

"No, but seriously. I know i don't have to look for a place so soon, but i'm ready to be on my own, and i'm not moving that far away i'm probably going to stay in town so i can come over all the time and you guys can come over and have dinners at my house and stuff. We can have girls nights at my house anytime you want mom. You guys aren't getting rid of me that easily, i am just ready to be independent." I explained to them hoping they understood that i wasn't leaving to get away from them, i'm just ready to be on my own.

"Hey! If mom gets girls nights, what do i get?!" My dad pouted.

"We can have daddy/daughter nights as well!" I rolled my eyes playfully.

"That's better!" I started laughing and kissed their cheeks again and then walked towards the door.

"I'll be back later to let you know how things went!" I promised.

"Okay, have fun, honey. I love you!" My mom called out.

"I love you too, mom!" I smiled.

"Call if anyone tries to pull one over on you, i'll come take care of them! Love you, princess." My dad said in protective dad mode.

"I will, daddy! I love you too.."

"Can i come with you?" JJ begged.

"If you must!" I heaved an exaggerated sigh. I was just playing around with him, i have no problem hanging out with my older brother, we're actually really close.
