*Daphnia Vermilion*
The melody of birds chirping when spring comes is something worth waiting for. The art of the blooming flowers are quite mesmerizing. Me and my brother used to pick some on the field. My family runs a flower shop. I don't hate flowers but I don't like them that much.
My mom used to compare me to my brother all the time. She always talks about how good he is at school. I understand, I didn't get jealous at all, I actually admired him for that. When I was in 4th grade my friend asked me.
"Hey Daphnia, do have someone you like?" she asked.
"Yeah?" I said.
"Who is it?"
"Arthur?"
"Who's Arthur?"
"My brother?" I said.
"What? You can't like your brother."
"Why can't I?"
"You can't have romantic feelings for your brother, it's forbidden." she said.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. You're weird."
After that I never talked about it again. I didn't understand what did my friends mean by romantic feelings.
Nobody ever took me seriously, in my family, my friends, I smiled every day, I practiced on the mirror every day before I go out of my room until my smile was painted on my face.
Only my brother Arthur cared about me he'd ask how's my day. He would talk to me, joke with me. He's the only person who made me feel loved.
"Looks like you had a good night sleep sis." Arthur said.
"Yeah..." I wish you weren't my brother.
"How's school?" he asked.
"Nothing new." I said.
"Do you like someone?" he asked.
"Yeah." It's you.
"Winters about to end..." he said.
"Yeah, it'll be spring soon."
"Want to go the usual place?" he asked.
Stop it Arthur, stop giving me false hope.
I smiled. "Sure I'd love to."
We used to hang out on the daffodil field when we we're kids. Some daffodils has scent but most of them were unscented now because of breeding.
"Happy Birthday!" his voice.
No one remembers my birthday except for him. No one greets me except for him. No one could ever make me happy except for him.
"Here." he gave me flowers.
"Thanks bro." I said. My tears started flowing. Not because I'm happy but because I can't just help but fall deeper for him everyday.
"I love you." I said.
"Aww. I love you too sis." he replied.
No you don't. You don't understand.
I hugged him.
"Stop crying sis. You'll look ugly." he said.
"Brooo."
"okay okay, sorry you can cry all you want."
I didn't want that moment, I wish that moment never ends. I was a fool for falling in love to the wrong person.
