❝ you'll never be a true slytherin. ❞
❝ your hair looks nice today draco. ❞
❝ what are you doing? ❞
❝ oh, i've decided every insult you give me, i'll return with a compliment. ❞

‧₊˚ delilah hudson — from the day the girl
learned how to walk and talk she was a joy to be around. a smile always on her face and kindness inside her heart, you couldn't help enjoying every moment spent with her. she genuinely was the definition of an angel.

she had spent her whole life anticipating the day that her hogwarts letter arrived in the post. her mother, candace, was a witch, and delilah had grown up hearing many stories of the wonders of the school. sure, there was once a possibility she possessed no magical powers whatsoever, but when her uncle john walked into the kitchen to find six year old del sat atop the counter, a circle
of flowers levitating around her, the idea of her being 'normal', so to say, was crossed out almost immediately.

the date was now september 1st, 1991, and hogwarts' great hall was just beginning their feast. the sorting had begun, and first years were lined up, awaiting their names to be called. a small group of them were as cocky as ever, grins on their faces, as they were confident that they would get their desired house. the majority, however, couldn't be more anxious if they tried — delilah included. when she heard her name called by professor mcgonagall, her nerves were higher than ever. maybe it was the fact that the whole school's eyes were focused on her, or maybe it was something completely different. whatever it was, the young girl couldn't help but hate the feeling. her usually confident demeanour had been replaced with a feeling of sickness in her stomach, and she wanted nothing more than to pass away right there and then.

'breathe. just breathe. you know you'll be in hufflepuff, there's no need to panic.' the hat was placed on her head as the crowd got silent, and delilah closed her eyes so she couldn't see the stares. what felt like hours passed, though it was most definitely just a minute or so, and she began to get worried. was her head really that hard to read? just as she was about to burst into tears, the easily recognisable and extremely intimidating voice of the sorting hat spoke up.
