Jin slowly walked up the stairs to his home.
The building looked like a small royal palace, with its adorned gates, expensive landscaping and wide entry.
Jin was in a very good mood, after the eventful night.
He hugged his mother, who had greeted him at the door.
"How are you, eomma?" Jin asked, smiling at her.
"I am fine! Seems like you are in a very good mood." She could see through her son.
His sadness had always agitated her. But seeing him in such good spirits, after all those years, she was eager to know the reason behind it.
"I am! But first make me something to eat. I am hungry!" Jin pouted.
"Ha... Ha... Ha... Okay! Come to the kitchen!" Mrs. Kim laughed, seeing her son's unavoidable cute face.
"Where is hyung and appa?" Jin enquired, sitting down near the table, as his mom started preparing some meat dumplings.
"Your appa is taking a bath, upstairs. He will be down soon. Your hyung went to the hospital at an emergency call." His mom replied, dicing the onions and mincing the meat.
"Hmm!" Jin hummed knowingly.
"How is Rin?" Mrs. Kim asked with concern.
"She is fine! She is doing well. Great, in fact."
Jin's lips curved up.
His mother caught her son's face from the corner of her eyes.
"You are engaged!" She reminded him.
The smile disappeared, replacing it with a frown.
"But I want you to follow your heart. Look at your appa and me. We never gave up on each other. We married and had two little cute bums." Mrs. Kim smiled at him encouragingly.
Jin left his seat, hugging his mother from the back.
"Eomma, you are the best!"
"What about me then?" A voice coughed behind him.
"Appa!" Jin greeted him politely.
"Look at both of you. Your eomma is making dumplings for her son, but not for her husband. And look at you hugging her." Old Mr. Kim, complained.
"I will make you some too, honey." Mrs. Kim chuckled.
Mr. Kim winked at Jin.
Putting an arm around his son's shoulder, Mr. Kim guided him to the living area.
"I heard, you are doing pretty well with Rin." Mr. Kim didn't beat round the bush.
"Yes, appa!" Jin replied, guessing where this conversation led to. It was something important.
"Don't forget you are engaged to the Park family. We need them for our business." Mr. Kim reminded him.
It was more of a statement, than a reminder.
Jin's face contorted, hearing his father's words.
"Appa! I love Rin! I waited all these years for her. I just can't marry Mr. Park's daughter. You promised me you would rethink, when time comes." Jin replied firmly.
Anger arouse in Mr. Kim, as he said, "You better hear my words. Do you find a mere girl who left you, seven years before, cheating you for someone else, better than the father who raised you all these years? You will marry Noah, soon after Soo Hyun's marriage."
Soo Hyun, who had just entered the house, was unaware of the drama.
He casually walked near his brother, greeting his father, turning to the younger, saying, "Yojeung and I fixed our marriage date for next month. Get your leave fixed. I want you there. Don't forget you are my best man."
He was full of smiles. Jin couldn't bring himself to spoil his brother's mood.
"That's nice hyung! Get your pockets filled, to buy me the best man's suit. I am not going for anything less than what empties your pocket."
"I will!" Soo Hyun laughed, patting his brother's shoulder.
"I am leaving then. I have some work to finish!" Jin's face was cold again.
"But its the weekend! You are not staying over?" Soo Hyun mused.
"There are lot to look after. Goodbye Hyung! Goodbye Appa! Tell Eomma I left."
Saying that, Jin walked out.
How can his father shatter his happiness just like that? Didn't he always say, he liked Rin? He was always on her side.
Jin felt that life was unfair.
When was he going to be happy?
"Jinnie! Here are your dumplings!"
"Jinnie! Jinnie!"
Mrs. Kim called out, keeping the freshly boiled dumplings with soup, on the table.
"He left, Eomma!" Soo Hyun replied.
"But he said he was hungry! Honey did you say something to him?" Mrs. Kim eyed her husband skeptically.
"No!"
Mr. Kim walked away to his study, regretting all the words he had to say to his son.
Why did she ask me to do this? My poor Jin! The past haunts them both... But still a new chance, isn't it fair? Why was everything still back at where they left?
The father felt his son's pain, as well as the girl's, who just met him that day.
Rin had asked him to do so, this morning. The child was definitely hurting, braving up those words.

Back at home, Rin was found occasionally zoning out the whole day. She was unusually silent. Even more, than what she became.
Her wearing the turtle neck sweater wasn't a questionable thing, since it was cold. But it seemed quiet weird to her mother, as she always tried to wear loose clothes even in winter.
People change, Rin's mother comforted herself. Maybe she got enlightened.
She hadn't seen her nephew or niece, for the past month or more, at the house. She was well aware of Rin's coldness to her cousins and friends. But her daughter keeping away to herself, wasn't a comfort to her in any way.
"Won't you talk to Taetae or Ha Ra?" Rin's mother asked out of concern.
"I don't find the need to, eomma!" Rin replied in a tight voice.
"I am going to my room." Rin said, after a minute of silence.
Back in her room, behind the closed doors, Rin stood in front of the washroom mirror, looking at the hickeys, Jin left all over her body.
What made her want, wasn't a question, but what made her irrational, was after all questionable.
She shouldn't have acted on the impulse. She should have pushed him away. What did she think, allowing him to take her and to give herself?
Rin broke down in front of her reflection, as she thought about the tough decision she had made that day.
Jin was given to Noah! Yes! He deserved something better than her!
