Lorelai stood with her mother, Emily Gilmore as Emily bossed around the entire kitchen staff once again, instead of being in the Gilmore's mansion, it being in Lorelai's home in Stars Hallow. But this time, Lorelai noticed her mother had a certain gleam about her bossing, more pleased to do it today.

When Emily got done bossing, all focus came to interrogating Lorelai.

"When is Rory supposed to be here?"

"Her train is supposed to get here in an hour or two, they got delayed due to the rain."

"Who's they?" Emily insisted.

"Rory and Jess." Lorelai cringed waiting for the worse.

"Jess? As in that hooligan that showed up at my doorstep five years ago with a black eye completely disrespecting my granddaughter?"

"Mom," Lorelai sighed. "He's changed."

"I just don't know why she didn't say 'yes' to Logan. He was the only decent boyfriend she had."

"She didn't feel like it was right."

"How does she know? She's only twenty two for Pete's sake." Emily disapproved.

"Mom, please just believe me when I say Jess has changed."

"Wonder if he'll come in with a bloody lip and a broken arm this time, too." She laughed.

"So where are you staying during the whole wedding fiasco?" Rory smiled as the two sat on the train, waiting for the roads to clear up from the rain.

"Luke's." He smiled back. "Do you want to go get some coffee?"

"Yeah, I've been dying to ask but didn't want to be rude."

"I noticed. There was a hint of crazy in your eyes so I figured that coffee could cure that." He smirked.

The two walked close by each other as they finally reached the café and ordered their coffee. Jess kept stealing glances at Rory and Rory did the same thing. Jess was relieved her hair was long again, he hated the short hair she had for a bit a few years ago when he told her he loved her and tried to get her to leave with him.

Jess didn't resent Rory for declining his pleas for her to come with him. Even though he claimed he was ready to be in a serious relationship then, he couldn't even afford his rent the first few months and lived off of ramen noodles for a good while. Jess sipped on his coffee, thinking about how things would have turned out if Rory had left with him that night at Yale.

"What are you thinking about, dodger?" She used her first nickname for him again.

"Just how-please don't hate me- bad things could have gotten if you had left with me that night I came to Yale."

She smiled softly. "We would have been living in a box, fighting all of the time."

"Not all of the time." He laughed.

"Jess,"

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry." She looked into his eyes.

"Like I said, 'all's forgiven, Gilmore.'" He smiled.

Rory wondered what would have happened if she said she loved him back that night in Stars Hallow.

Could have been beautiful or it could have been ugly.

"Hi, I'm home," Rory said walking through the front door noticing Paul Anka, the dog, staring at her. Lorelai quickly rushed down the stairs, bear hugging or tackling Rory.

"Three months was way too long." She pulled away from the hug. "Wasn't I supposed to come get you in forty five minutes?"

"I figured surprising you would be more helpful." She smiled. "Jess rented a car and dropped me off. He said he'd talk to you later and he wasn't trying to be rude just figured this was our time to catch up."

Lorelai smiled. Jess had changed a lot. Old Jess would have not cared if Lorelai's feelings were hurt.

"Tell him 'no blood no foul.'" She laughed.

"So tell me about the last few months," Rory started one of their mother-daughter talks.

Jess walked into the diner in the middle of the day and sat a table on the far left. Luke immediately saw him and brought a menu. "Lorelai was going to pick the two of you up in half an hour."

"I rented a car so Rory could surprise her mom." Luke smiled at the young man that Jess turned out to be.

"Well. As long as you're here, what food do you want?"

"Just a burger is fine." Jess laughed. "Thank you."
