So close to you

A/N I know I said I'd do one later, so here ya go! Shoutout to @Reylo10___Dramione12 for the best comment in the last chapter. Achoo! This is Ben's apartment. It's a little smaller, but it fits Justin and him. Okay, next chapter I'll do one for his bedroom. 

"You jinxed me." 

Ben, true to Rey's word had ended back at her apartment that evening. Thankfully, it wasn't too late. Only about 10:30. Rey held the door open for a visibly flustered and embarrassed Ben. Justin payed no attention to his owner, and bounded into the apartment without a care in the world. As if this was his new home. He went straight to Sasha's side who was lying in her large bed and laid down next to her. 

"Hope I didn't interrupt anything." 

"Well, I'm not asleep, so no. Just watching Infinity War for the first time." 

"So what did he do now?" 
"He scratched at the wallpaper behind the TV. That will be a bitch to fix." Rey laughed and went to the kitchen. "I did some research and found that if you drink this tea before falling asleep, it'll help. I made one for me too because I can't stand another night of Justin's toxic bombs." Justin looked up, and Ben laughed. 

Rey handed him the cup of tea and they sat side by side on the couch. They talked softly for a little while, and then Rey resumed Infinity War. Ben had seen it and tried not to spoil it, but it would probably be hard. 

The next morning, when Rey woke up, she would have a fright.

Ben awoke, realizing that he hadn't changed out of his outfit from the day before. He looked down and found Rey asleep on his shoulder. 

His heart beat raced. 

They must have fallen asleep after the movie was over. Damn that tea. 

Rey stirred and woke up. She shrieked and pulled away. "I am so sorry." Ben shrugged, "I don't mind." Rey shrieked again and raced to pull on some new clothes. "I'm 10 minutes behind schedule! I got to go!" 

Rey quickly planted a kiss on his cheek before racing out the door.

He remembered their conversation from last night. 

FLASHBACK STARTS NOW: 

"I really appreciate you for letting me stay." 

"Not a problem, but you should call the vet about his behaviors. I can't have you around every night, my co-workers would think I'm being a..you know." 

"Well you'll be seeing a lot of me." 

"Oh?" 

"I mean because of the puppies." 

"Right, yes." 

"I meant what I said earlier, you know. I'm here for you. I'm here to help if you need it." 

"Thanks Ben, that really does mean a lot." 

END OF FLASHBACK

Ben stood there, shocked, for what felt like an hour. It was only 6:45 AM but Rey probably had the early morning shift. A text came into his phone. 'Is it okay if I go by your building around 5 to give Justin back to you?' 

He texted back swiftly, 'yeah no problem. See you at five!'

The commercial building that Ben worked at was in the center of the city, and it was so lovely, that she decided to take Justin to walk there. Bad idea. Every few minutes he would bark at a pigeon or something. Ben walked out of the building as she approached. But he wasn't alone. A ginger haired man was walking next to him. 

Justin barked and Ben crouched. "Hey boy." He said, petting him. 

"Is this her?" The ginger asked Ben, but he didn't look at Ben. He was staring right at her. Ben glanced up and met Rey's eyes. 

He quickly looked away. "Yup that's her." 

"You work at Kanata's right?" He asked. She nodded her head. 

"Chai tea latte with soy milk and a orange danish." Rey said, listing his order. He grinned. "I'm Armitage Hux. But everyone just calls me Hux." 

Rey politely shook his hand. 

"Rey. Rey Jackson." 

"See you tomorrow, Ben. Maybe I'll see you tomorrow. Or is it your co-workers shift?" 

"You mean Rose?" 

He turned pink and nodded. "Rose has the mid shift. I have morning." 

"Well then, see you tomorrow Rey." He swiftly walked away. 

As they looked at each other, Rey sighed. "I'm sorry about earlier today, for the kiss. It's.. I was still half asleep, and I thought you were my ex, Chad. We only broke up maybe 2 months ago. I.. I didn't know what I was thinking." 

Ben shrugged, "don't worry about it. It was sweet. Even if you were thinking of someone else." 

They laughed.

"So.. did you call Justin's vet today?" Rey asked as they walked away from the building. "Yes I did. And Dr. Radcliffe suggested we.. you know.." He gestured at Justin. 

"Put him down?!?!??!" Rey screamed. 

"No! No!" Ben shouted back, "Not that! The other thing.." 

Rey raised an eyebrow. "Neuter him?" "That's the one." 

"So are you going to do it? Like you should have done in the first place?" 

"It's his life! Someone needs to be his voice!" 

"He's a DOG." Rey snapped. 

"How would you like it if your parents decided whether you could reproduce or not? Hmm?" 

"Well my parents abandoned me when I was five so I'm pretty sure that's worse!" Rey said, tears glistening in her eyes. 

Ben's face went white. Rey bit her lip and burst into tears. 

"I.. I.. shit." Ben muttered at a lost for words. 

"I'm fine." Rey said through gritted teeth. She dashed away. "Rey wait!" Ben challed. Justin whined as she turned the corner and ran. 

Ben did not pursue her that night, but did text her. 

'Made an appointment for Justin on Wednesday. I'm so sorry Rey.'
