Emily's POV
I arrived at Bondi beach at half eight in the morning, and it was one of the hottest days ever. I was sitting in my wheelchair in my army uniform looking at the people on the beach. As I went down the ramp I could feel peoples eye on me as I went past them, when I had found my spot I stood up from my wheelchair and got my towel from my bag and set it down before siting on it. I then tuck my top off to revel my bikini bra showing of my six pack. After I had put sunscreen on myself I reached into my bag and took out my book that I started reading on the plane called Harry Potter and the order of phoenix.
After an hour of reading I decided to go for a swim so I took of my army trousers and put them in my bag along with my book and army top. I then walk a bit nearer to the water and made sure I was in between the red and yellow flags before going in for a swim knowing I was in a safe area.
As I was swimming, I did not realise I had swim 800 metres till she stops swimming. When I looked around my surroundings, I seen a young woman floating in the sea next to me with her head in the water not moving so I swam to the women to make sure she was okay.
When I got to the woman, I touched her should see if she was okay. As I touched the women, I could see that the woman's face was blue so my medical experience kicked in and I turned around very slowly because she may have a spinal injury. I then check to she if she had a pulse. When I checked for a pulse, I could not find one. I knew I didn't have long to save her, so I looked around myself to find a group of surfers near by. I shouted to the surfers to come here because I needed help. When all the surfers looked up at me they had seen I was holding a body afloat so they paddled as fast as they can to me.
EMILY: Hey guys I need your help and I need it fast to save her okay.
SURFER 1: Sure, what do you need.
EMILY: I need you all into the water first
When all the surfers where in the water next to Emily.
EMILY: Okay which one of you has the biggest board?
Surfer 4: I do.
EMILY: Okay I need you to come to the right side of me with your board. I'm going to need you to hold it as steady as you okay.
SURFER 4: Okay, I can do that.
SURFER 2: What do you need the rest of us to do.
EMILY: Okay I'm going to go as fast as I can so I'm going to call you by the colour of your shirt okay.
ALL THE SURFERS: YES!
EMILY: Okay then, blue shirt I need you to come and hold her head as stead as you can okay.
BLUE SHIRT: Okay. (goes and holds the woman's head as still as he can)
EMILY: everyone else I you all to gather around her and gently lift her onto the board.
When the woman was on the board Emily then climbed onto the board as well and began CPR
EMILY: Guys I need you to try and swim us in because we need to get her on to land before any big waves come in and she needs oxygen fast okay?
ALL THE SURFERS: Okay let us do it.
All the surfers began to swim the board I was on while I was still doing CPR on the woman. They soon got to beach as quickly as they can. I the jumped of the board and told the surfers to grab the board and left the woman out off the water and to my wheelchair.
EMILY: I need someone to get a lifeguard now!
A crowed began to form while Emily was doing CPR and telling the surfers what to do. Two lifeguards then turned up with a medical bag and their radio.
EMILY: I need someone to give her oxygen and I need someone else to get a defib and a spinal board down here as quickly as they can.
While one of the lifeguards were putting the oxygen mask on I stopped doing CPR to check for a pulse. When I fond a faint pulse I let out a sigh of relief. Just then two more lifeguards came with the spinal board and the defib.
EMILY: I've got a pulse, it faint but it is there. So, what we need to do now is get the neck brace on her and slowly turn her on her side.
When they all turn the woman on her side, they moved the surfboard out of the way and replaced it with the spinal board. They then placed the woman back down to put the clips on and slowly turned her back on her side because they do not know how much water she had taken in. A minute later the woman woke up coughing up water.
EMILY: Hey, you are okay darling, you just need to get it out of your system.
The lifeguards look at Emily shock with how she handled the situation with the woman.
DEANO: Hey, can I ask you what your name is please?
EMILY: Sure, it's Major Emily Goodman. What is your name sir?
DEANO: It's Deano. Do you want to help lift her up so we can take her to the tower?
EMILY: Sure, just let me get my stuff, its just next to you.
DEANO: Okay.
After got all her stuff together and put it on her wheelchair they all began the slow pace up the beach on the Rhino to the beach where the ambulance where ready with a bed. Once they where at the tower Emily told the paramedics what happened and what she did then the paramedics took the woman to the hospital.
DEANO: I just want to say thank you, because with out you by the time we had seen her and got out there she would have been died.
EMILY: No problem, I did what anyone else did. And the surfers did help me a lot.
DEANO: I know they did I thank them already before they left to get their boards. Can I take you to my boss he would like to talk to you for a minute if that is okay with you?
EMILY: Sure, just let me get my clothes back on first.
DEANO: Okay, that fine.
So, after I had dried off and got my uniform back on I then sat in my wheelchair and we went into the tower to meet the head lifeguard.
