Happy New Year!

"THREE... TWO... ONE... HAPPY NEW YEAR!" I yelled along with everyone in The Infinity Club as we counted down to 2014. As soon as the clock struck midnight, we released thousands of pieces of confetti and balloons to rain down on anyone who had decided to celebrate with us. I smiled from my DJ stand as I looked out over the crowd and watched all of the happy couples kissing. I felt a pang of sadness. Drew should be right here beside me, not in Maine doing God knows what.

"Happy New Year, everyone!" I smiled into the mic I had as I threw a fist up in the air.

"PLAY YOUR SIGNATURE!" I heard several people in the crowd yell and a chorus of agreements follow.

You're probably wondering what my signature is. Well, everyday I start out my party by playing the live versions of Helena Beat followed by the live Pumped Up Kicks, the one they don't play anymore. That's just two songs that seem to get people in the mood of partying, they go crazy for those songs.

"Are you sure that's how you want to ring in the new year?" I asked.

"Yeah, you obviously like those songs, and you're the only one here alone, let's do something nice for her!" A guy I didn't know threw a fist in the air as the crowd yelled agreements.

"Well, if y'all say so..." I smiled and turned on Helena Beat. The crowd let up a collective roar and started dancing.

I stayed up in my DJ stand for the rest of the night, not bothering to come out and dance with anyone. Plus, there was no one that I would want to dance with right now, except for Drew, and maybe Mark, or Ponsi, or Cubbie, or Sean, or Isom, or any of my brothers, but they were here with their girlfriends. Except for Connor, who was in Australia.

That night went by slower than they usually do. Yeah, I was having fun DJ'ing all night, but sometimes things just made me feel lonelier about myself when I least expect it. I should've expected this one though, it New Year's Eve, everyone has someone to be with.

No, I should stop thinking about that subject. I've already tried other boyfriends in the three months it's been since Drew left, and they only broke my heart more. This is one of the reasons why I have trust issues now. People saying that I can trust them when they only break my heart more, and because of the guys with their shattered promises.

When the night finally ended, people stayed and wanted to party more, so I was basically stuck with a double duty shift, and I could tell that Jake wasn't handling the bartending job too well. Drew used to be the bartender, you know, serving sodas and stuff to people who wanted something to drink. And, if you wanted to get fancy, we sometimes served floats, they weren't on the drink menu, but Drew used make them for people who asked. But, Jake can't really handle this much pressure of a lot of people calling out for something all at once, and people were picking on him because he was the new guy, and some of the girls were only trying to pick him up, even if he had a girlfriend.

I felt bad for Jake, always being the one to get picked on. And I especially felt bad that he and his girlfriend barely had any time together on New Year's Eve. That's gotta suck. I should really look for someone else to fill that position instead of having my brother work for me, well more like doing a favor. I'm not paying him since he's my brother, and he won't let me pay him for anything.

I cleared my head from my thoughts and looked out at the crowd of people gathered in the Club. It looked like all the 1600 kids in the whole school had shown up today, and that's not an exaggeration. We could fit the entire student body in this huge room, Sash and Susan had made sure that it was big enough for people to move around in. Plus, there were game rooms on an upper level balcony that overlooked the main room, so there were people crowded up there playing video games, pool, ping-pong, air hockey, and various other things we had bought up. We also had basketball and volleyball courts out back so people could do whatever they wanted.
