Chapter 1
Every girl has a future, but that ended for me when I was 16.
The day started like any other day, I had woken up at 6:30. I was in the bathroom curling my long blonde hair, when I heard my mom on the phone.
“She isn’t ready for this,” my mom continued, “I don’t think Melissa should be going on missions. She’s too young.”
Obviously, she was talking about me. I’m the youngest of my family. My oldest brother Alex is ten years older than me, and he is pudgy with shaggy hair. I could never know the color of his hair because he always dyes it. Chuck, my other brother, is three years older than me and is skinny with short brown hair. If my brothers and I were to stand in a line you would never guess we were siblings.
My mom continues on the phone, “If you even think about telling her I’m going to kill you myself!”
I was so confused, but I didn’t have time to process this information. I was already late for school. On school days I normally walk to school, but for some unknown reason today, my mom wanted to drive me to school.
As I was getting out of the car my mom told me, “I love you, Melissa. I will pick you up after school to go shopping. Bye.”
Chapter 2
While I was walking into school my best friends came running up to me.
“Melissa, do you know what season it is?” Lilly asked with tons of excitement in her voice.
I responded knowing exactly what season it was, “Let me guess, Homecoming season.”
Lilly has been my best friend since I moved to Wisconsin. She has long blonde hair, but only her hair was lighter than mine. Lilly also was the perfect size. Lilly is the captain for the Gladiators soccer team. Today Lilly was wearing light blue jeans and a short sleeve shirt that stated, “Rules are for boys.”
“So, Hillary who are you taking to the dance?” Lilly questioned.
“My boyfriend, smart one,” Hillary stated with annoyance in her voice.
Hillary is a quiet girl with long brown hair that always bounces whenever she takes a step. She is skinny with broad shoulders. Hillary didn’t play any sports, but for some reason almost all the boys at school wanted to be her boyfriend. None of the guys would stand a chance because Hillary was dating Chance. Chance is the football team’s quarterback. I never understood why Hillary was dating him because he has absolutely no brains. I suppose it’s because Chance is quiet and Hillary is as well, except for when Chance and Hillary are with each other, they are so loud because they would always go crazy and start pinning each other to the ground.
Lilly continued babbling on about the dance, but I wasn’t paying attention. Lilly and Hillary both had dates to the dance, but I was the loner in the group. I would have a date, but I’m too nervous to even talk to my crush. I was crushing on the hottest guy in the whole school, Tavian Anderson. Tavian has the dreamiest eyes ever, he also has the perfect smile, and he’s stunningly gorgeous. All the girls wanted to date Tavian, but Tavian never wanted to date any of them.
