I slowly wake up in someone's arms, and it takes me a second to remember that they belong to Jack. I open my eyes to see walls that are not mine, until memories of last night flood into my mind and I recall staying in a strangers room because I was too tired to drive.
I shift a little to remove my phone from my pocket, which is jabbing into my hip bone at the moment. Jack stirs a little before I feel him tighten his grip around my waist. I smile as I check the time, shocked to see that it was almost eleven o'clock.
I turn to Jack and kiss his nose. "Hey, we gotta go. It's almost eleven."
He groans before removing his arm from my body to rub his sleep ridden eyes. He mumbles an "alright" and sits up. "Who's room is this?"
I rip the sheets off of me and start to stand up. "Some random stranger's, now let's go."
He chuckles. "Someone a little cranky this morning."
"Shut up," I murmur. "We need to find Lilly. Can you grab my bag?"
"Sure." He grabs my bag that's leaning up against a wall and we make our way downstairs. I look around and see people passed out in various places, and Sam and Nash picking up the trash. No sign of Lilly.
"Have you guys seen Lilly?" I ask.
"I might have seen her down the hall?" Sam says and picks up a soda can.
"Okay, thanks." I say and he nods. I go down the hall, Jack behind me, and look in every room, which is only, like, four, until I see Lilly asleep in a bean bag chair. I roll my eyes and walk into the room. I shake her gently, but she doesn't budge. She's a heavy sleeper. I take out my ear phones and strategically place them in her ears. I turn the volume all the way up, and blast Crown the Empire in her ears; even I can hear it. She jolts up and yanks the wires out of her ears.
"Really, Riley?" She whines and I lightly laugh, and I hear a chuckle from Jack.
"Yes, now we have to go. Gather your things we're leaving."
"Okay mom!" She jokes. I roll my eyes and walk over towards Jack, who's leaning against the door frame. I wrap my arms around his torso and he kisses my forehead before we leave Sam's house.
The car ride was rather loud, me and Lilly shouting the lyrics to the Top 100 Hits, Jack scolding us every time. Eventually we make it to Jack's house, since Lilly didn't want to face her parents just yet. I guess she was supposed to be home before midnight. Oops.
I grab Jack's hand as all three of us enter his house, but startled by the booming voice that greets us. "Jack! Where the hell have you been!"
I furrow my eye brows, and tighten my grip on his hand.
"I was out," Jack says, agitated already.
"Where?"
"To a party! Is it really that important?"
"Yes it is! And who are these. . .these whores you probably picked up off the street!?"
Me and Lilly gasp, a furious look in Jack's eyes. "Riley, go bring Lilly to my room, please," Jack says with clenched teeth. I nod and give his hand one last squeeze before going to his room.
We get there and Lilly immediately starts to ask questions. "Who was that? And who the hell does he think he is to call us that? I swear to god, I will personally-"
"Lilly! Calm down. I don't know who that was, and don't do anything to him, you know we don't have bail money."
She sighs and sits down as I hear yelling coming from downstairs. I can't make out what they're saying, but I know it's getting nasty. I can make out a few curses every now and then. I hear Jack shout a "FUCK YOU!" and stomp up the steps. He throws the door open and slams it shut.
The first thing he does is punch the wall right next to a white patch of plaster. He pulls back, blood dripping from his knuckles and a beat red face. I watch as he slides down the wall, Lilly in pure shock.
I sigh. "Oh, Jack," I breathe. I sit down next to him and wrap my arms around his shoulder. Most people would be scared of his firey state, but I'm not. "It's okay," I whisper over and over in his ear until he calms down.
He takes a shaky breath. "But it's not. He shouldn't have fucking called you that!"
"I know, I know. But I don't care, Jack. Sure I'm pissed as hell, but in ten years, it won't affect me. Hell, I'll be over it in two hours! Same with Lilly," I say and rest my head on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm over it," Lilly says.
"But that's not the point," Jack grumbles. "He's a dick, I hate him. I don't know why my mother married him, she can do so much than a two centimer dick head."
I stifle a laugh. "So is he your father?"
"Hell no! My real father probably sucks one centimeter dick, if even," he says and I bite my tongue to not laugh. "He's my step father. I don't know my real dad."
"Looks like someone has daddy issues," Lilly says and I shoot daggers at her with my eyes. "Sorry, too soon."
I sigh and roll my eyes. "You're gonna be alright, Jack. I promise. I promise."
