37. Wound

"Hey babe"

I widened to see Shayam at my office. I ran to him and quickly hugged him. He hugged me back patting my head.

"I missed you" I said.

"I know, that's why I'm here" I smiled and released the hug.

"You're free?"

"Yeah, I'll have my next meeting in 2 hours"

"So how about we grab dinner lunch in the mean while?"

"That sounds great" he kissed my cheek and I quickly grabbed my bag. We went downstairs and sat in his car.

"What's in your mind?"

"It's your turn to pick a place" I said and he continued driving.

"It's ok babe, you pick. You were having a long day" I smiled and pulled his cheek.

"Why are you so sweet? I guess I'll melt in your sweetness" I said looking at him all dreaming and he winked.

"Just for you"

We kept talking until we arrived at the restaurant. He opened the door for me and I love how every time he opens the door for me like a gentleman he is. We sat on the window side and gave our orders. Just as we were talking, I saw paparazzi outside.

"Babe?" I pointed at the direction and he looked at them.

"Ignore them"

"But they'll come to know about this" I pointed at the ring.

"That's good right? I always wanted everyone to know you're mine" he said and that made me happy. I found the right man.

We ate and have a fun time. As soon as we walked out there started clicking pictures of us.

"Shayana, are you in relationship with Shayam?
Is it true that you cheated on Armaan with Shayam?
Is that the reason he's dead?
Do you plan on merging your companies?
What do you think about your dad's suicide?
The ring? Are you two married?
How did you two meet?"

They kept asking lots and lots of questions. We finally reached the car and breathed relief.

"That was..."

"Yeah I know. You'll experience it much more here after" he said.

"Why so?"

"After all you bagged the handsome man in the country" he winked and gosh! He's so cocky. I eyes him up and down and gave him a thumbs down sign. He looked at me in disbelief. I chuckled and he started the car.

Dropping me at the office, he went away. I went straight up to my office and completed all my work. Attending the meetings was hectic because there's a lot of mistakes that needs to be over viewed. I kept working until my phone rang.

"Hello"

"Sis come home fast" Anya said and I replied to her. Taking my bag, I came down to the parking lot. I saw Shayam getting out of his car and my eyes widened. I hugged him and he looked at me with blank space.

"What? You're not happy to see me?" I asked.

"I was supposed to surprise you" he said pouting and he's so cute! I pinched his cheek before I kissed him.

"Come I'll drop you" he said and I nodded. I asked my driver to drive my car to the house and we walked to his car.

"Babe I gotta go to France again" he said as soon as we got in. He started the car and we started driving.

"Is there any problem?"

"Yes babe, there's a problem in the construction. Apparently the supervisor who's supposed to be there is vanished. I need to go there" he said.

"How long?"

"I don't know, a week maybe" I nodded. I'll miss him for sure.

"Ok babe" I said and there was a complete silence. We arrived at my house and he opened my door.

"See you" I said. He hugged me tightly.

"I'll miss you too. I'll be back as soon as I can" he said and I didn't reply. I held his coat within my hands tightly and just leaned on his shoulder. There's something empty within me and I don't want this to stop him from working.

He released the hug and looked at my face.

"Come on babe, smile" he said and I smiled a little bit. He pecked my lips and waved bye one more time before leaving.

I went inside and soon ate dinner with my siblings. Later showering, I layed down on my bed. I hope this week passes by soon.

A couple of days went by and it's almost the time for him to return. I called him a couple of times earlier but he didn't answer the call.

I saw my friends looking at me with a smirk on their face.

"Stop it" they laughed loud.

"You're so whipped girl" Lekha laughed.

"I don't believe this actually" Yamini said eating her ice cream.

"Me too. I never thought my life would take such a turn. Going bankrupt at first, then taking over buisness and then the worst thing, coming to know about my dad. It just hit me so hard and it shaped my life so much. I was going to shut everyone out of my life but then he never let me loose hope. He was there was me cheering me up every time and he saw me beyond the wounds. Everyone just showed sympathy but he saw the potential in me, encouraged me to stand up on my own feet. I don't know if it wasn't for him that I'll be where I am here today" I said honestly.

Yamini hugged me and patted my back.

"I'm proud of you girl" she said and Lekha hugged me too.

"It's time you forget your past and look at your future. You have your siblings, Shayam and us. Just look at the brighter side I guess" Lekha said.

"Will you guys accompany me to my mom's.." I choked on my voice before I could say anything.

"Of course we will"

It's my mom's death anniversary tomorrow and I needed Shayam to be with me. But I guess he's busy and I'm glad I have my friends. I'm grateful for everything in my life right now and I'm learning to be happy. I'm sure my wounds will leave scars but there'll be happy moments which will make my life colourful.
