SONDRA
I was standing next to Amun. He was holding a towel. He was supposed to clean up the table & anything on the floor. I was holding a jug of water.
I was called over. Amun put his hand on my shoulder & gave me a smile. I walked toward Master Kade & I held up the jug of water. He picked it up, poured some water, & put it back. I walked back to Amun.
"That wasn't so hard, was it." he said, & I smiled. Amun was like a father to me & Mua'ah was like a mother. Mua'ah was head chef, she made sure that everyone was doing what they are supposed to do & some times cooks meals for important meetings.
Ever since I got here Master Kade has been staring at me. I don't look at him because Amun said it was inappropriate.
KADE
After dinner I went to my room & looked through my toy chest. I was trying to find my old teddy bear my mother gave me. I wanted to give it to Sondra. I found it and it was on perfect condition, I went into my parents room & grabbed a black ribbon from a jewelry box. I used it as a bow tie for the bear. I was walking down the hall, toward her little house.
" What're you doing now Kade?" My brother asked me.
"Nothin' " I said & and started running. I went through the kitchen & headed toward the keeping quarters. I knocked on Mua'ahs door. She opened the door. Before she could say anything I walked inside. Sondra was on the floor playing with the floor boards.
I didn't say anything. I just walked to her & put the teddy bear in her lap. She looked up at me.
"Thank you." She said softly.
"You're welcome." I said then walked away.
