~~SCARLETT~~
I finished training turning to see Dick in the distance in the gymnastic area, I could see him flipping around almost like he was a professional and something hit me as odd though I shook it off. Our eyes locked as he watched me head into the Locker Room hoping it would signal that I was done. Quickly I changed out of my clothes dabbing my sweat from my skin with the towel and re-changed into my regular clothes. About ten minutes later I exited the locker room and began to lean my back against the wall across from the Men's locker room. My head turned to see the janitor was placing what looked like duct tape on the door of the Fire Extinguisher case. The glass was cleaned up and the fire extinguisher was removed from inside the box. A bit of guilt hit me remembering that I punched that door in a rageful trance and I learned with these powers that I could heal from almost any injuries. I looked away when the janitor turned to look in my direction and after a few more minutes Dick appeared from the locker room. Our blue eyes locked again which this time his eyes felt like they were reading my soul.
"So, are you ready to go?" I asked watching Dick swing his backpack onto his back before nodding and we both headed out of the Fitness building. There was a small coffee shop on campus that was a good walk from the Fitness building. We remained silent the whole walk until he opened the door for me like a gentleman and we made our way to the counter. "I'll take the iced peppermint mocha with a cinnamon roll please." I handed the cashier some money then stepped to the side so Dick could order his drink and food.
"I'll take a medium coffee with a double shot of espresso and a egg sandwich with ham on a toasted plain bagel." He replied he must've worked up an appetite from all those flips that I saw him do in the Fitness building, he quickly paid and the cashier handed us our refreshments a few minutes later. We took them into our hands and went to sit at the table outside since it was hard to hear in the shop. I pulled out my Chemistry notebook from my bag and I opened it to the notes page from today placing it on the table for Dick to copy. I looked up to see Redhorn wrapped in some bandages from today's experiment, he was chatting with some random girls who seemed to be eating up whatever crap he was dishing out. I rolled my eyes then returned my attention to Dick who was jotting down the notes while taking a bite out of his sandwich. My mind was racing on what I planned to do tonight if I encountered Nightwing again and what I was going to do when I finally reached Desmond's building. With these powers I was given I have no idea what the limits were, I know I should test them out before I go off after the notorious crime lord but my mother didn't have that kind of time. My eyes locked onto Dick again feeling my heartbeat pick up a bit, he was a very attractive guy but I doubted that he felt the same. "You really don't want to be here with me huh?"
"What...?" I asked snapping out of my thoughts to see Dick was looking at me and it seemed like he finished copying all of my notes.
"You seem like you really don't want to be here with me..." Dick exclaimed I guess my face before was giving him that impression but I knew I had to say something to him.
"No, I do want to be here with you it's just....it's just that you're the new guy and I just know that if you are seen with me for too long then you will be marked by Redhorn. I just think it's better that we just stick to a strict partnership with the experiment if you don't mind." I explained smiling though it felt fake, I must have felt something strong for Dick but I knew that it would be too risky. My mind was all over the place right now but mainly it was focused on a monster.
"I can understand that but what I don't understand is why Redhorn still a bully? From what I know bullying usually ends in high school but I guess he needs a hobby since he sucks with the ladies." he asked I couldn't help but chuckle by his comment seeing that he could see Redhorn failing at whatever with the two girls I saw earlier. I threw the final piece of the cinnamon roll into my mouth then washed it down with my mocha.
"Believe me bullies here don't really end after high school, he's a real douche and ever since he lost the parkour competition he has been a lot worse." I explained he sipped his coffee with his face pressing on to mine, I got the feeling that he was analyzing me with his eyes like he was looking for something.
"What happened at the competition?" he asked I knew this would come up eventually but I looked at my phone checking the time hoping the topic would change but the silence told me that it wasn't going to.
"It was a timed obstacle course to see who could beat the time of the other and use the obstacle course the best. He came in third and lost out on the scholarship money for college the the first place winner and if it wasn't for his daddy being the Chief of the Police then he wouldn't be here." I answered taking a sip of my mocha seeing Dick look over at Redhorn again trying not to make it obvious. I really didn't want to talk about this and by the look at my phone again it showed that sunset was coming soon. "I have to get going, I got stuff planned tonight so I guess I'll see you class next week?" I threw my things into the small trash bin and swung my bag onto my shoulders heading in the opposite direction.
"That still doesn't explain why does he pick on you? Why doesn't he just pick on the one who beat him?" Dick wondered I stopped in place next to him sighing softly before turning to look at him still sitting in his seat.
"Because I was the one who beat him....goodbye Dick." I replied flashing a quick smile then continued to walk away from him leaving any feelings behind me because tonight I was going after Desmond and I have to keep my mind clear if I was going to win. I hope for the wannabe superhero heeded my warning because I am not in the mood to kill two people tonight.
