Monday in school I was daydreaming before classes started. Jake came in and sat down in his seat next to mine.
“Hey,” He greeted me, but I didn’t reply. “I’m sorry about Friday. It’s just that mine and Mindy’s schedules clash really often, but Fridays we’re both free,” He said and I looked at him.
“Nah, don’t apologize. You have a right to choose what you want to do on Fridays. I’m just grateful that you’ve kept me company on Fridays for such a long time,” I said and smiled. “Thanks.”
Jake looked a bit worried, but still smiled, “Yeah.”
“Well, what are you doing today? Do you want to do something together?” I asked him.
“Oh, I already made plans with Mindy today,” He replied and smiled sheepishly.
“And I thought that your schedules clash…” I mumbled to myself.
“What?” Jake asked, obviously hearing me mumbling.
“Oh, nothing,” I said and laughed taking my books from my backpack.
“Oh yeah, how was the movie on Friday? What did you watch with Henry?” Jake asked and he seemed quite curious.
“Transformers,” I replied remembering how close his face was again. “I just wonder what would have happened if the tea didn’t spill.”
“What do you mean?” Jake didn’t understand me, but I didn’t want to explain it to him. “I also saw Henry today being dazed and cursing the tea. What happened with the tea?” Jake was curious but the class started so I didn’t explain it to him.
When school ended and I walked outside the school building I looked up at the sky. The weather was cold but the sun was shining and it was nice to feel the chilly wind biting my cheeks. These days I didn’t have anything to do I had a lot of free time.
As I was walking towards the bus stop I heard someone shout my name. I turned back and saw some guy running towards me.
“You’re Victoria, right? Wow, how long has it been?” The guy said and pulled me into a tight hug. At first I was puzzled who he was, but then I remembered.
“Luke? Oh my gosh! You’re so grown up now,” I exclaimed recognizing my childhood friend. “It’s really been so long! About 10 years? What are you doing here?” I asked him. Luke was my neighbor when we were little so we used to play together all the time. He was one year younger than me so he didn’t go to school at that time and I was in first grade. Luke moved right before he started school so I didn’t see him again.
“I moved back here,” He said and flashed me a smile. “Wow, but looking at you you’ve gotten so much prettier,” He said and looked at me from head to toe.
“You’ve also became handsome. I only remember you when you were a little boy. I bet girls are lining up for you now with your looks,” I said and laughed. Luke also laughed.
“Well I’ve been taking care of myself,” He said and then added, “Do you have time right now? Do you want to go on a date with me? To remember the old times.”
“Yeah, I have a lot of time. Let’s go.”
We went to a coffee shop where we talked about old times and laughed. Then we went to a park and walked around.
“Wow, but you really grew up,” I said looking at him from head to toe. “I remember when you were a little boy. You were so adorable then. Now you’re tall and handsome. So how many girls' hearts have you broken?” I said and laughed. Luke looked at me with big eyes.
