*Hello, my lovies, *especially those from the tiktok video* welcome to my Charlie from twilight fanfiction. A few things I want to get out of the way before we start, I'm a full time college student so that means I won't be able to update weekly :( This is an alternate reality where Charlie does not have Bella and he is also NOT 41 years old. In this AU Charlie is 22 but still the sheriff.

Chapter one. Fuck the rain

"I've never been this late before, I swear to god if I get marked absent, I will cry. They won't let me graduate if I miss anymore school. Shit, shit" I murmur to myself as I park my car and basically run inside.

Some things you probably need to know, I could fall standing still, it never stops raining in Forks which means the ground is always wet, and I have slight issues with the law.

*thud* "SHIT" I fell, hard, on the floor. I slipped on a rather large puddle right outside the front doors and then my foot caught the lip of the door; as if I needed help hurting myself. I've never hated the rain more. Fuck the rain.

I one hundred percent just gave myself a minor head injury, at least. The pain coming from my foot and leg is over whelming. I wonder how long I can lay here until someone finds m-

"y/n are you okay? What happened? Where did all this blood come from?" The school receptionist asks as she tries to get her phone out of her back pocket.

"Who are you calling? I can NOT afford another ambulance bill. Please just call my mom, plea-" I huff out as I feel my blood start to spread up my pant leg.

"I really think you need an ambulance. Your leg could be broken hun," the receptionist was right, my leg was definitely not okay,

"Please" I begged her.

"Fine... I'll call the sheriff and he'll take you to the emergency room, is that okay?" She said as she looked up our sheriff's number.

I shake my head yes. Anything is better than the nearly two-thousand-dollar bill from my last ambulance ride.

"Okay, mhm, no, Forks high school, no she's a senior, sweaty how old are you and what hurts the most?" The receptionist asked as she scanned me up and down.

"I'm eighteen and my foot, it's killing me. Please have them hu-" And before I could finish my sentence I blacked out, at least my head was already on the floor.

I can hear faint police series in the background as someone reaches one hand under my back and one hand under my good leg. I can't decipher if I'm keeping my eyes closed from embarrassment or lack of strength, but I can't force them open. The person who's caring me must be on the stronger side because they definitely aren't struggling to carry my weight so awkwardly.

As we step out of the school, they shield me with their jacket, lightly laying it over my head. They smell of pine, fresh wood, cologne, and rain. Their hands must be big because I can feel them taking up a significant amount of space on my body as they step around the original puddle that made me fall.

"Why wouldn't they have something over the main entrance? No wonder she fell." A deep, smooth voice says with a sigh.

I tried opening my eyes again only to be reminded of the thick police jacket covering my face. He must have had someone, a partner with him, because he didn't have to open his passenger door. He sat me inside of the police car as gently as he could and shut the door. I moved the jacket off my face and tried to examine my leg as the driver's side door opened.

"You alright? You had me pretty worried for a second when you weren't responding. I'm Charlie. Stay still for me until we get to the hospital. Just hang in there." His deep voice had a soothing affect, it's no wonder he's the chief of police, at what has to be a young age. He has a stubble beard that helps make his jawline even sharper than it already is. He seemed nice, attractive in a sort of 'lumberjack in his free time' kind of way.

He leaned over my lap and grabbed the seatbelt to buckle me up but underestimated how sensitive I was to the pain in my leg. When his hand grazed my leg, I let out a small sob from the pain. He immediately put the seatbelt back where it was and moved his hand back to the steering wheel.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He said as he looked away, I could tell from the look in his eyes, he meant it.

"You okay over there?" When I didn't answer him, he called into dispatch and told them to let the hospital know everything, so they'd be ready when I got there.

"You don't have to do all this. I'll be fine, really." I wasn't even convincing myself as I said it. Charlie chuckled lightly before getting a more serious look on his face, as if something had just dawned on him.

"I do have to do it, it's my job. And even if it wasn't, I'd still do it for you." He said smoothly, as if he didn't even say it at all, he slightly glanced my way.

"Yeah, I'm definitely hallucinating things."  I say as we pull into the hospital and I black out, yet again.
