~Recap~
Dammit. I really wish Damien was here now. The guy started to pick up pace so I did too. His jog turned into a run then a sprint. My adrenaline was racing and the air was cold, making it harder to breathe. Please not this again. No.
I ran, but with my leg my pace began to decrease. My breath was short and quick. I couldn't keep this up for long. This man was about to murder me.
I had completely stopped by then. There was no way I could out run him. I felt his hand grab onto my arm pulling back from where I stood.
"Sophia!" the man yelled.
~~~~~~~
I turned my head away from the man, hiding behind my hair.
"Sophia was it?"
"Hmm?" I looked up from the ground with furrowed eyebrows. The man I had met in the gas station was standing in front of me with a bag in his hand.
Anthony- Well. . . I guess I came off as a bit stalkerish just now huh?
Sophia- Yeah. . .
I still kept my guard up. There weren't many places to go from here if he tried to kill me. Finally he let my arm go and motioned for me to follow him to a bench nearby.
I hesitantly sat down while Anthony rummaged through his bag. He seemed like an ok guy, but I couldn't trust just that. I wouldn't let myself make the same mistake of blatantly trusting him.
A few more seconds of searching, and Anthony found what he was looking for. He had pulled out multiple snacks from the gas station.
"Uh here." Anthony handed me the bag of snacks. "I figured since you were stealing food, you were in desperate need of it."
"Well-well thank you, I really do appreciate it, but I-I need to go." I could not stop from stuttering. Being with a stranger in the middle of the night was terrifying.
I turned away from Anthony only to have him grab my arm again. My whole body froze when he grabbed my arm. I took in a deep breath and relaxed myself. I didn't notice at the time, but tears were starting to form.
Anthony- Wait Sophia maybe I could help you out?
Sophia- Please. . . just let me go.
Anthony- Really, I mean you no harm. I just wanted to help out. You know?
I honestly thought Anthony was telling the truth, but I couldn't rely on what I thought about a man I just met.
About thirty minutes later I found myself in his car, driving to his house. Sohpia, how did you let yourself do this?
The car ride was long and terrifying. We made our way through the pitch black road. The sky enveloped everything in a blanket of darkness. It was fascinating and chilling at the same time.
Throughout the whole car ride I found myself looking back to Anthony. Out of fear or interest, I really don't know.
"We're here," Anthony said while taking out the keys.
I stayed silent as we got out of the car. From what I could see, which was quite insufficient, the house looked particularly brooding. The sparse street lights added a gloomy aura to the otherwise pleasant house.
My heart was still racing with that nerve-wracking feeling of dread. I had to keep taking deep breaths that would quicken with anxiety.
Anthony- Would you like to come inside? You don't have to just stand there.
He was standing at the door waiting for me. I was still frozen by the car. Just being here triggered something. Being in this strange place and with him. . . I just couldn't handle it.
I found myself back in the street running. The cold air, high adrenaline, and terrifying monster. Everything was dark. I looked around for some hope, but nothing. I was back here again!
I kept mumbling to myself. I could even hear Anthony trying to talk to me. Nothing could snap me out of this trance. Everything felt so real I was back at that night with no escape.
My legs soon gave out as a shrunk into the ground. "STOP!" I screamed with tears.
Present and past were blurred together. I could not tell real from fake, not to mention the tears fogging my vision.
My head was spinning from this experience, but I could make something out within it all. Anthony, he begged as my world faded away, "Sophia watch out!"
{ Sorry for the shorter chapter today. I didn't want to keep writing events a had planned for further on in the story, and this was a good cliffhanger. But next chapter should be longer and worth the wait And don't forget to vote :p }
