I hear a knock at my bedroom door so I pause my music and stride to it pulling it open to reveal my mom and a familiar looking girl. Then it hit me. It made me want to slam the door in her face.

But my mom was there so I obviously couldn't. I give them the cheesiest gin I can muster, which isn't much.
"You friends here" my mom smiled happily, she knew I didn't have many friends.
"Yep! Come on in" my words are tight but mom doesn't seem to notice. I glare at the girl. My mom steps back and tells us to have fun, I roll my eyes and step back so she can enter. I see her looking at my feet. Crap! I gesture for her to sit, she does.
"Soo...who the heck even are you?" Her eyes snap up and meet mine, then they lower back down slowly. "Like I know who you hang out with." I glare so hard that I think my eyes would start to cramp (if that's even possible)
"I'm Bree." She took a deep breath and continued quietly, "I just needed someone to talk to" I snort. "I'm serious! Riley dumped me because I was flirting with Carter!"
"Why the heck would you do that?" She looks up at me with fire in her eyes.
"I wasn't! He was flirting with me!"
"You know he flirts with everyone? Even those he doesn't mean to?"
"I know, she just thought that I was flirting so she dumped me!" Oh gosh, dramatic much?
"I didn't know you two were dating?" She rolled her eyes.
"You know that's not what I meant"
"I know, I'm just messing with you. How did she "dump" you?"
"She is hosting a party tonight and invited everyone at our table to it, except me. She also made me scoot over and sit next to Josh at lunch" she shivered. I burst into hysterical laughter, soon she grinned. Josh is a guy with long greasy hair, he wears his pants halfway down his butt (he wears leggings underneath) and he flirts with everyone as if he was the cutest boy in the school instead of Jess, or Ian.
Wait what?! Did I seriously just think that?
I shove the thoughts out of my head.
"So, what did you want to talk about? And why did you come to me?"
"I came to you since I knew you would understand and I knew I couldn't go to any of Riley's other friends." I nod slowly understanding. Then a sly grin makes an appearance.
"Are you implying that I would understand because I've been rejected?" She shook her head vigorously, eyes wide.
"No! That isn't what I meant, I'm so sorry-"stop. I was messing with you again" I let out a little chuckle.
"Oh"
"So what did you want to talk about?"
"Well at first I just wanted to get to know you better" I raised my eyebrows, she wanted to be friends? "Now I want to know about those" she points to my pointe shoes. I let out a sigh.
"What about them?"
"Well, do you dance?"
"Ya"
"How long?"
"Ten years" her eyes go wide.
"Ten years?"
"Ya" she squeals like a three year old.
"Show me something! I love ballet!"
"How do you know I do ballet?"
"I guessed"
"Fine I will show you one dance" she squeals again. I walk into my studio and stretch my now cold feet. I do a few turns, then I turn on the music and do the dance. She claps at the end.
"That was amazing!" I feel my cheeks redden slightly. She smiles kindly. We talked for a while and I showed her some ballet. Then she starts talking about school and what she was going to wear tomorrow, her eyes light up. Oh no. She looks me directly in the eye, "What are you wearing tomorrow?" Crap, I shrug. She smiles evilly. Crap! Crap! Crap!
"I'm going to pick your outfit!" I grown as she walks to where she assumes my closet is, sadly she guesses right. "You have a big closet" I nod, striding towards the closet. She pulls out a few things and lays them on my bed. "Try them on!" I grab the first one slowly and go into the closet changing quickly. I walked out in a pink sweatshirt that was kind of a crop top with black leggings. I turn around slowly and she claps her hands together in joy.
"Next!" I roll my eyes but do as she says.
After another hour or so of trying things on that I didn't even know I had, we, no she decided on a flowy skirt that ends just above the knee, it's black with a zipper in the back. The shirt is a ballet pink with a crisscross in the front. It isn't something I would ever wear but she promised to come to my house and get me ready (she was also bringing her outfit).
We had dinner and then I went to bed, I was laying there thinking about how fast we had become friends. I mean Bree is great but I want to know why she came to me and not some other more popular girl. I fell asleep dreaming about going to school with a friend and actually having a good day.
**********
I wake up to my phone buzzing,
Come let me in
Wondering for a second who it was then noticing her name at the top, Bree.
I got your number while you were changing
I get up and walk downstairs, the door creaks open to her standing there with a suitcase and her school bag, I laugh at all she brought.
"Good morning!" She spoke in an excited voice. I pulled the door open wider and put a finger to my lips, I had told my parents that she was coming over but I didn't want to wake them up.
We walk up to my room and close the door, she starts laying out her outfit options.
"Which one?" I point to some jeans and a light sweater.
"That one"
"Sounds good!" She grabs it and bounces over to my closet.
"Get dressed and let me know when you're done." She pulls the door closed, I grab the outfit we had chosen and got changed.
"I'm done!"
"Ok" she walks out and plops onto my bed examining me, she then turns to her bag and starts pulling out different curlers and makeup.
"Where's the bathroom?" I point to a door on the far side of my room across from my closet, she nods and heads over to it. My bathroom is connected to my room, it has three doors, one to my room, another to Coles room and a third to the toilet and shower. It's really nice because if I am doing my hair and Cole needs to shower he can.
When I finally walk over to the bathroom I see that Bree has plugged in a curler and is brushing her hair. She hands me a brush and I brush out my hair, surprised at how wavy it was. She looks a bit surprised too, she pulls me over and starts messing around with my hair.
After about thirty minutes we were done, her hair was in curls while mine had a natural wave to it and a braided crown around my head. Sadly she had done my makeup, it was simple but still.
I look in the mirror and see someone else, no, me. It was the real me, the outgoing confident me. My old self that was confident and loved herself for who she was, not the person who was only worried about what others thought, or the person who tried to hide.
I turn around and look at Bree, I smile kindly and walk over to my bed sitting down.
"Are you sure I can't wear any shorts underneath?" She rolls her eyes.
"We've already gone over this! No! They will show if you do. Now go get your shoes!" I walk into my closet closing the door slightly, I grab some really short shorts and slip them on real quick so she wouldn't see, I grab the black wedges she had found and slip them on. I swing my backpack onto my shoulders and march out confidently. She grins at me and follows me to the kitchen where my dad had eggs and bacon ready. He serves two plates to us, and we inhale them. I stand up and he looks at me for a second and nods slightly.
"Have a great day girls!" He says as we head out after brushing our teeth. I climb into the driver's seat of my car as she sits in the passenger seat, I turn on some quiet music and in no time we reach the school. Sadly we have to park next to Ian's car.
"Well, I'll see you later!" She hops out of the car and walks into the school, I slowly get out and start walking towards the school. Every step makes me regret my decision to stand out. I walk into the school and see a few people staring, I ignore them all deciding to be confident no matter what. I get to my locker and place my stuff into it, I shut it and start walking to my first class. When I get there it's locked so I decide to go to the library. I stay there reading a book I found till the bell rings, I slowly walk to class not wanting to go, especially because Carter is in that class.
I step in right before the bell rings, I make eye contact with Carter but he quickly breaks it. I feel him looking me up and down in a weird way, I sit down and see him still staring, he winks then looks away. I roll my eyes. I feel someone else looking at me so I hide behind my hair but I had to look up in order to see what we were doing.
Soon enough it was lunch, I was worried about where I was going to sit because I normally sit outside in peace and read but now that Bree and I were sort-of-friends we might sit together. Luckily I didn't have to worry for long because Bree found me before I could enter the cafeteria.
I spoke before she could say anything, "Where do you want to sit?" She grinned and pointed to a fandom spot in the cafeteria. I nod and we head separate ways because I have a home lunch. I sit down at a random table and start eating. I feel eyes on me. I would normally shrug it off but this felt different. I look up and see him staring at me. Ian. I hold eye contact not wanting to be the first to look away, luckily Bree sat in front of me blocking my view.
"How has your day been so far?"
"Good" I smile. "You?"
"Normal" I nod in understanding.
After about twenty minutes I'm done and go throw away my garbage. I turn back to our table and see something that makes my heart sink. Riley and her group of snobs are standing in front of Bree, I hurry back and see Riley smile at me. I glare. She glares back. I walk up to Bree and she steps away from me, I look at Riley and see her smirking.
"Don't you look great today" she sneers.
"Why thank you" I smile back. By then half the cafeteria is looking at us.
"Did you know it takes more than a few hours to make friends, and you actually have to be cool to do so" I smile slyly.
"Is your name google?" She rolls her eyes.
"No" she speaks in such a sassy voice that I almost laugh.
"Then stop acting like you know everything" I hear some snickers behind me.
"Bree" she looks up. Then walks over to her and stands next to the jerkface named Riley. "What did you really think someone as popular and cool as Bree would hang out with someone like" she gestures to me. "You?" I try to hide my hurt but I see Riley's smile widen at my reaction.
"No, but I thought she would be smart enough to not hang out with a face painted moron like you" I could tell I had pushed a button. She steps forward and looks me in the eyes. I expect her to say something but instead she pushes my shoulders backward making me lose my balance. I start to fall backward but catch myself with my hands, no doubt showing my shorts. I do a back walkover and stand up, I start blushing because almost everyone in the school has seen what they assume is my underwear. I grab my lunchbox that was on the table and slink out of the silent cafeteria, as soon as I left I could hear everyone talking.
Wanting to go home but not being able to, I walk outside and sit on a bench that is mostly out of view. I hear someone walking towards me, I hold my breath and soon meet eyes with Bree. Her eyes widen for a split second before she turns around and says,
"She's Not over here." She walks away and I take a deep breath in, closing my eyes. I feel a breeze sweep past me and I open my eyes slowly to reveal some warm green eyes.
