Chapter Twenty-Three: Breaking The News

** Kenslea's POV: **

The next morning i woke up early because the nurse came in to take my vitals and to give me my medicine. After that i couldn't go back to sleep. Tadley was still sleeping on the couch and i didn't want to disturb him, he clearly hadn't been sleeping well since i've been in here.

I was trying to decide what i could do while Tad is asleep since i can't get up, and i don't want to make too much noise and wake him up, but then my room's door opened and James walked in with a covered pan.

"Hey, beautiful! I figured you would be hungry, and wouldn't want this nasty ass bland ass hospital food so i made you some cinnamon rolls." He whispered as he looked over at Tadley's sleeping form. He brought the pan over and lifted the foil and placed it on the table, gently pushing it in front of me. My mouth practically watered at the sight of them.

"Oh my gosh, James, i love you so much right now!" I squealed quietly. I took a gooey cinnamon roll out and bit into it, grinning at him around my bite. He's seriously the best. "Although, you might want to move these away from me, otherwise i'm going to eat all of them and Tad won't get any." I looked over at Tad and then frowned and looked back over at James.

"Do you know if something is wrong? He got really sad and looked like he was fighting himself on whether to talk about something or not but he just told me to go to sleep and we'll talk about it today." I questioned my best friend hoping if he knew he would tell me. It's driving me crazy not knowing, especially when it's bringing Tadley pain. James got a sad look on his face and he looked away from me and wouldn't look me in the eye. Did something happen? Did Cindy and Nikki get out and nobody wants to tell me?

"It's not my place to say. Talk to him about it later.." He insisted. He came over and kissed me on the top of my head and then backed away. "I have to go, i have an interview in twenty minutes. I just wanted to drop these by, and tell you i'll be up later to see you."

"Oh, okay, good luck!" He left the room and i picked at another cinnamon roll but the worry in my stomach wouldn't allow me to eat anymore. I was lost in thought when i heard Tadley start to stir and i looked up and saw him sitting up and stretching.

"Morning, babe. How are you feeling?" He asked me as he stood up and walked over to me giving me a soft kiss on the lips.

"Morning. I'm alright, the nurse was already in and gave me my pain medicine. James came by and brought us some cinnamon rolls." I pushed the tin towards him a little and he grabbed himself a roll and sat in the chair beside me.

"Are you alright? You look worried?" He asked worriedly as he bit into the cinnamon roll.

"Did Cindy and Nikki get off? Is that why you looked like you wanted to tell me something but was too scared? Is that what everyone is keeping from me?" I insisted needing to know.

"What? No! They are locked up, and they aren't getting out." Tadley assured me.

"Then what's wrong? I can tell you want to say something, so say it. I can take it!" I stated. He sighed, and got the most heartbroken expression on his face and grabbed my hand and squeezed. He looked me in the eyes and began talking.

"Kenslea.... You were pregnant... you were five weeks pregnant but you miscarried because of the trauma and blood loss.. I'm so sorry, baby. I should have protected you both!" He cried tears streaming down his face. I felt my heart drop, i felt a burning knot in my throat that indicated i was about to cry. I was pregnant? And i lost the baby?
