"Jimin, why are you crying honey?" Mrs park asks her 6 year old son who was crying hysterically while rubbing his eyes profusely.
"I-It h-hurts m-mumma" he says in between his sobs and Mrs park grabs his hands gently and wipes his tears as he keeps his eyes closed.
"Open your eyes honey. Let me see what's wrong?" Mrs park says as she cups his chubby cheeks with her soft hands as he opens his eyes slowly.
To her horror her son's sparkling blue orbs were turning red with a glint of something she couldn't understand.
His eyes looked infected to her so she took him in her arms and took him to the hospital without any delay.
-
"It doesn't seem like just another infection. Maybe your son can't handle sun rays and that is why his eyes have turned red. I would suggest that he should wear sunglasses whenever he goes out in the sun and I will prescribe some medicines and eye drops for now to soothe his eyes." doctor says as Mrs park looks down at her son that was now sleeping in her arms after getting tired from crying so much.
"Thank you doctor" she says before taking the prescription and her son as she goes out of the doctor's cabin.
-
"From now on you cannot go out" Mrs Park says to her 6 year old son who looks at her with wide eyes.
"Why mumma?" he asks innocently getting upset that he can't go out and play.
"It's not good for you to go out. If you go out the infection of your eyes will come back and it will hurt again. Do you want that" Mrs park says as he nods his head in denial.
"Good boy. Now go and play in your room. Mumma has some works to do" she says and the boy nods his head before going inside his room.
Mrs park is a single parent who worked as a principle in a school before shifting to Seoul.
She is originally from Busan but after her son was born she shifted to Seoul and had been living here for years.
She has always been very over
protective about her son. Even if he gets a little cut she will freak out. After the doctor said about her son's condition she came back home and started putting black curtains all around the house so that no sunlights can come inside. She turned the basement into a room where her son would live, away from all sunlight.
The doctor said that he could go out with sunglasses but she wasn't sure if the doctor was right so she wouldn't let him go out at all.
All the electric device like Tv, radio everything was placed into one room like a junk that could never be used. Most of the time she kept the house in darkness.
Her house was in a suburban area in Seoul so she didn't have many neighbours. The nearby house was also a few minutes away.
She quit her job to take care of her son full time. She would be a teacher to her son,a mentor, a guide.
For the next several years she would be the only one her son would see. No sunlight, no human, nothing until........
-
19 YEARS LATER
"I am the one who called you. I was going to my house which is a few minutes away when I saw her laying here outside her house unconscious and when I came closer she was dead" a man in his 40's says to the police officer who was writing all the information in his notepad.
"Is there anyone else in this house that she lives with? And do you know anything about her?" the police officer asks the man as the man nods his head and speaks.
"I think her name is Mrs Park. Everyone called her that. As you know this is a secluded area,no one really knew each other but she has been living here for the past 25 years so people around here know who she is. She was a school principle but for some reason she quit the job. I think she had a son but no one has really seen him for years so we don't know if he is alive or not" the man says to the police as he notes all of that and let's the man go from there.
It was a case of severe heart attack so there was no reason to doubt anyone. But police were trying to find someone from her family so they could take the body or something.
The house also looked spooky to them. It was dark inside with curtains everywhere. No electronic device which is a necessity for people these days and no one in particular in her house.
For a 50 year old woman to stay here all by herself and in this condition was really odd for the police officers.
"Did you find anything or anyone who maybe is close to her?" police officer Mr Kim Namjoon, a young and talented officer who achieved a lot in just a few years asks another fellow officer.
"We don't think so. The man who called us said that she had a son but no one has seen him in years so they don't know if he is alive or not" the police officer says as officer Kim nods his head inspecting the house when suddenly he feels his feet banging on the floor with a different noise than all other place in this house.
He gets alert and knocks on the floor with his hands as he places his ears on the floor.
The floor seems to be a wooded one whereas the whole house is of concrete.
"This seems fishy" officer Kim mutters under his breathe and removes the carpet from the place to reveal a handle to pull the wooden floor up.
He pulls the floor up and looks beneath the floor to find a wooden staircase hanging from there.
He starts to get down in the room that seemed like a basement underneath the wooden floor and looks around.
What he sees makes his eyes go wide like a saucer as he looks in front of him in horror.
