Guardian

PART 2

The ladies formed a circle, held each other’s hand and chanted a spell unbinding them from Chloe. The red magical bond that connected all of them for seven years was slowly disappearing from Chloe’s hands and now she’s free. When the red silky thread slowly turned into smoke and disappeared in thin air from Chloe’s hand to them, Sarah Choked with tears, She is no longer a part of the team. This made all of them shed tears and cry. Tears of sadness and Happiness for Chloe’s new found life, hopefully a much safer and happier life. Chloe left that day with David by her side.

The girls went straight to the assessment hall where they are going to meet the potential new Soothsayer, no one was trilled but having a soothsayer is a must if they want to survive being in the field.

They entered a hall with huge windows and high ceiling. Tables were pushed to the corners as well as the chairs. All the lights were turned on, making the room very bright, in the middle of the hall was Lady Lankan one of the five elders. She will test the abilities of the applicants and she, together with them will make the vote.

Each Custorian team consists of five to ten members, for a long team only the Elder sisters’ team consist of five members, until seven years ago when Mari’s group the flos agri was formed. their powers and abilities were so great that they only needed the essential members for their team. A leader/Alpha, a beta, a soothsayer, a spell binder and a fighter, this was better for Mari because she doesn’t want to be around many people, an introvert though and though she truly is. At first being constantly around four girls irked her. She only spoke to Ally and sometimes with Anna for she was grateful to Anna for saving her life once. She would not mind the others and just pretend they do not exist, but as the time goes by, she learned to trust the others and they in return trusted and followed her as their Alpha.   

There were eight young ladies standing in the middle of the hall while the rest of Mari’s team were leaning on the wall or sitting next to the windows. These girls in front of them passed rigorous test, fortune telling, predictions, mind reading etc. One of them will replace Chloe.  This leaves a bitter taste in Mari’s mouth and she is sure it goes for the team Mari was sure.

They will just observe and listen to The Lady Lankan and the girls. They cannot interrupt the procedure so any comments they have they kept to themselves and maybe after the procedure they can discuss and dice every detail they noticed in the assessment ceremony. Lucky for them it was not like this when they joined the team, they were handpicked by each Lady of the throne and made as the best active team in the field protecting the werekind.

Ironically they protect the same kind that almost killed Mari, Ally and Sarah. Sarah was bitten by a rogue and turned half of her being into werewolf, but something unexplainable had happened and she remained human like and did not transformed into a werewolf as well ,but the bite almost cost her her life and sometimes causes her discomfort. Ally found her mate when she was sixteen. she decided to back pack around and explore places, and in a remote town met a dashing young man that at the end took her virtue and left her alone. Mari lived with humans until she was seventeen she did not know anything about Custorians so she was a young naïve girl dreaming of going to college, have a stable and simple life after, and marry a loving man and be happy. so when she met a young man who showed her what love is, she fell in love with him faster than a bullet, head over heels and gave him everything. One day he received a call from his Family, told her he needs to leave for a couple of days and will return as quickly as possible and when he comes back he will take her with him and they will never part. But he never returned. Mari, the idiot that she was, waited until she got her first heat, the pain that she went through awakened her inner wolf.  this made her borderline crazy thinking that there is a wolf inside of her, not just that, the shewolf inside of her hates her for not doing enough to make their mate stay for them. So every opportunity the shewolf gets it tortures Mari and that was when she was sent to the St. Beth’s Hospital where she met Ally and was later found by Lady Stella one of the Elder sisters.

 At the end only two remained Erika and Zoe. Erika looked shattered and looked very tired from the day’s activities while Zoe just quietly stood their staring at the floor, counting the small pieces of mosaic tiles plastered on it. This is her dream, to be a part of flos agri the team she idolized so much. she is so excited to be their soothsayer,  oddly enough, they were soothsayer but cannot read the outcome of the days’ event she was sure that Erika was going through the same dilemma of not seeing the future. She tried to foresee it once more but to no avail. So she patiently waited with Erika while Lady Lankan stood up and summoned the flos agri .

“Choose” Lady Lankan said. Mari and the rest just looked at each other. “pardon us Lady Lankan but we didn’t understand what we were looking or supposed to observe for, we were not allowed to make noise since we entered the hall” Anna politely said. But Lady Lankan did not care “choose!” Lady Lankan said again but this time firmer and with authority, she used her mental telepathy to gather the votes, “It has been casted” she told them. After that Lady Lankan turned around and took Zoe. Zoe is their new soothsayer. Everyone just stared at her. She is too young. Mari is twenty four, Ally is twenty five, Sarah is twenty two, Anna is twenty nine and this girl? Ally thinks she’s just fifteen or something. She will ask her team mates later why they voted for this young girl but for now it’s time to leave the halls and go straight to the dining area.
