"JOSIE" was yelled from downstairs it had to be my mom. As I was getting up, I looked at the clock and saw it was 5:45 AM. I yelled "Just a minute!" and ran into the bathroom. I quickly curled my hair, put on mascara, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and applied lip gloss. When I looked at the clock again, it was 6:10. My bus was coming in 5 minutes. I hurriedly put on a red top and black jeans, checked my bookbag, and grabbed a banana. I kissed my mom goodbye and headed out the door. However, I was too late and ended up chasing the bus down 62 Hill Lane and finally caught it at 33 Margaret Street.
When I got to school, I saw my best friend Melanie. She has beautiful curly hair, hazel eyes, and by the way she's mixed. It was our first year at Rockville High. We had to sign in at the front, and it felt like they were trying to highlight the fact that we were newcomers. "Josie Anderson," I said. When the other kids were done, Melanie said "Melanie Santos." All the kids looked surprised, and I'll tell you why.
Flashback---Three years ago, Melanie found out that she was adopted, or rather, kidnapped. When she found her long-lost brother Marcus, she decided to live with her real parents the Santos family. The Santos are feared. It's been hard for her since Marcus left last year.
