The ride to Yongsan-Gu was quiet.

Considering the company she had at the moment, the ride to Jin's mansion was incredibly dull. Things had changed in Korea the past couple of years, nothing was as she expected them to be when she landed on Incheon International Airport that one cold night in November. Yet, strangely everything was still scarcely similar.

The streets, the stars, the people.

Coming back home from abroad a few years ago, she knew she'd find a completely different country, but she didn't expect to find her loved ones to be complete strangers. Granted, they had changed quite a lot even before she had left, but at least back then they still had some semblance of who they used to be. Now, they just felt odd. She barely recognized any of them, even though they were the closest thing to a family she would ever get.

Yes, she meant Bangtan. These boys were her brothers, loving them was all she knew. How could she love them now when she had no idea who they were? She had no delusions of reconciling what was broken between Serpents and Bangtan, and Halsey would defend her gang till the last drop of her blood. Even if that meant turning against them. But if it came down to it, how could she turn her back on them? How would she learn to hate her brothers?

Ashley was never one to shift legions easily.

The world changes in rapid speeds, it doesn't wait around for you to adjust either you do or you don't. That unfortunate truth is also applicable to people. People change all the time, they grow, they learn, they shift beleifs and legions, they progress or regress. An ally might turn out to be the enemy, a friend can become a foe, your lover might be your downfall. That's why people cut ties with each other at one point in life; That's why they fall out of love; because they're no longer who they used to be when the relationship begun.

Some people understand that and move on with their lives. Others, like Ashley refuse to accept that fact and cling into the delusion that somewhere behind that new version of a person lies the man you once loved, the man you trusted as you best friend and the boy you thought was too cute and shy around girls. She looked around the three men in the car with her; Yoongi, Namjoon, Jungkook.

That was the image of them she clung onto when she went to Windy City to supposedly study. She used to reminisce them quite often back then. The old version of them, the version of them she'd kill to get back but would never fully resurfice from the cold blooded killers ruling South Korea's streets with iron fist. They could no longer regain the innocence and youth they sacrificed in the name of power and revenge. No matter how much she wanted to go back and change things, life didn't flow backwards and the scars in their soul weren't reverslable. Things can only change after certain event, life can only go forward, people can only change. And the loss of a person like her, the loss of everything they held dear scarred the very souls of these rebelious outlaws forever, reverting them into ghosts of the people they used to be.
