To put it simply you had all made it to the examiner in time, no surprise to see Kurapika and Killua there already. Kurapika had ran quickly to Leorio after you all had arrived, stressing about the encounter with Hisoka. Killua however seemed laid back as both you and Gon reunited with him.

The second exam was at a almost mansion place, two people at the front sitting down on chairs. As they explained the exam, and how they were cooking hunters, you cringed. Cooking wasn't your specialty at all, to be quite fair, you sucked.

So you glanced to Killua and Gon, letting out a chuckle. "Uhm- you both know how to cook, right?" When they both glanced to you and shrugged, you groaned.

We are screwed.

* * *

You really were, staring at the pig on the table, both Killua and Gon glanced in your direction before putting the pig on the oven, cooking it.

They were burning it, or well, whatever it is they called cooking. With a relieved sigh, you noticed that nobody really seemed to know what they were doing. Relaxing, you attempted to cook the pig, cutting it into smaller pieces and cooking it to a toasty rare.

Finding and hunting down the pig hadn't been all that hard, and it all but took a wack on the head to bring it over. Cooking was all that you were really worried about, not because you didn't know any of the terms, and how to actually cook, but because you sucked at it, in general.

"It's turning black!" You heard Gon screech into your ear as he stared at the charred bottom of the pig. Stifling a laugh, you walked over to help him, putting a hand on his head to calm him. With a simple turn, you turned the stick, the pig turning around with it.

Flashing you a smile, Gon happily chirped a, "Arigato F/n-chan!"

Smiling adoringly, you walked back, noticing a moment too late that your pig was beginning to burn.

"Shit."

Using the tender soft meat of the pig from the inside, and discarding the black charred parts away, you hoped it wasn't too raw. By the time you'd cut it up, you put it on the plate nicely, adding little green stuff to make it look representable like something from a cooking show.

I think it's lettuce?

One of the examiners eyed your dish as if she had hoped for it, and as everyone approached to let the judges try it, they were each rejected by her exactly.

She hasn't even tasted them...

Butterflies flitting in your stomach, you turned to Killua and Gon who were both waiting for their turn. "Why do you think she keeps on rejecting them?" You asked nervously, "I think it's appearance, and lack of effort, but I don't know..."

"Must be the taste," Killua interjected, eyeing the examiner. "She's a Gourmet hunter right? What if she can tell whether it's good or not by looking at it? Like, as if she can just like, sense it."

That's... not it.

"Or like..." Gon thought about it as well. "The smell of it! She might be able to smell how good the meat is-"

Just cause you have a good sense of smell means that everyone else does...

Turning back to the judge, it was eventually your turn, and you could already feel your stomach churn with the thought of having to present it. Bringing the plate over, you set it on their table, the two of them looking at it suspiciously.

"It's raw!"

Yep... thought so...

You could hear the woman examinee spitting it out as you walked back to your sport, and a part of you felt prideful for getting her to even try it. The other part of you wanted to curl up and cry, you really couldn't cook-

In the end, no one ended up passing. Or rather, that's what the female examiner stated, still wiping her mouth after the taste of the raw meat. There were complaints, but you simply stared at the gates, an annoyed look on your face, not that anyone could see it though. You'd gone through so much effort to avoid your brother, and you failed like this?

Well... technically he failed too so...

However, in turn of the events, a aircraft flew above us soon after, stating that the judges had been a bit too harsh, and that there would be a redemption period to see if you could pass the actual test. Sighing a breath of relief, you went along with everyone to the actual part of the second exam, glad that you hadn't failed just yet.

Arriving to the cliff ledge, the woman examiner had given you all an example of how to do this part of the exam. Jump down and grab an egg, then you'd rise up with a wind current. Seemed a bit risky to you, but overall fun at first thought.

"Just wait a bit." Gon called over to you and Killua who looked ready to jump. Pursing your lips you nodded, trusting the boy briefly. Waiting a bit longer, he eventually stepped forth, everyone doing the same and following him. You all jumped, hanging onto the spiderweb and not letting go until Gon told you to do so.

Grabbing an egg, the wind current took you back up.

Wow... Gon has like supersonic senses... that isn't even fair.

Everyone who had managed to grab an egg had passed the exam, and you happily jumped on board to the ship. It was getting dark by the time it had Rosen up, but the idea of sleep was foreign to you. Not when just anyone could go and see you change, that would ruin everything.

Gon and Killua went their separate ways, and you went to the woman's washrooms, slipping in so no one thought you were being perverted. Entering one of the stalls, you took off your whole costume, letting your h/c hair dangle in front of your face and sighing a breath of relief.

Finally.

You've reached the end of published parts.
