*EMERALD*
I'm sitting on my sister's bed while she gets ready for her job interview. Baby Maximus peacefully sleeps on the bed while two pillows hold him on both his sides. She asked me if I could watch him while she goes on her interview and I almost hesitated. Children and I just don't match but he's my nephew so I love him to pieces.
Me and my sister, Jewel, are fraternal twins so our parents decided to call us Emerald and Jewel. We are their treasured jewels, that's how our mom says it when we are on her good side.
My sister is getting a divorce and her ex-husband is giving her a hard time so he doesn't even want to take care of his own son, I swear I never liked that son of a bitch but you know, you have to accept your sisters' choices.
If we weren't already twins. I'm getting a divorce as well. Mark and I weren't getting along and I'm not sure why we were still together, maybe, comfort? I'm not even sure myself. My final straw was when he blatantly told me he was going on a date. I told him I want a divorce the next morning. He agreed and we are in the process of divorcing.
I'm staying with my sister to help her with baby Maximus as I find my own place to stay. I'm also looking for a new job as well. I need to put my marketing degree to use. Mark and I owned an online fitness clothing store but I told him he can have it just to give me half of what's mine when our divorce finalize. He agreed so that's a fair amount of income I'll have when we finalize our divorce.
My sister came out of the bathroom in a nice outfit. She wore a pencil skirt, a white blouse, and her hair in a perfect bun. "How do I look? Would you hire me to be an editor at your fashion magazine?" She posed as she pouted her pink lips.
"Sis, you'll get the job, plus you're hot," I gave her a quirky smile as she jumped.
I heard Baby Maximus waking up. "Shit, sorry," she bit her nails, let's just say when Maximus wakes up he is fussy.
"Are you sure you'll be ok?" Her eyes were concerned because she knew I didn't do well with kids.
"Yes, I'll be fine. I'm going to the local café shop that's around the corner. I need to apply for a couple of jobs," her eyes still concerned but more relaxed.
"I won't be gone for long, two hours max," she put her black blazer as she grabbed her purse and keys. "Call me if you need anything, hey you can practice being a dad if you're ever up for becoming one," she giggled as I rolled my eyes.
Maximus started to fuss as I felt the bed moving. "Ok, I gotta go, there are two bottles in the fridge so take them with you and the baby bag is on the couch. Have fun," she walked over and kissed Maximus on his chubby cheeks then she kissed me on the cheeks. "Have fun, dad," she quietly exited as I took a deep breath.
I heard Maximus giggle as I stood up. "Why are you giggling? You're going to give me a hard time huh?" He smiled as he stared at me with his big blue eyes. I carefully picked him up as he bit his fingers. Why are you so damn heavy for a 6-month baby?
"We are going to get uncle Emerald a coffee," I carried him to the living room as I grabbed the stroller. I carefully put him in as he kept smiling at me. "You're so cute but I know you're going to give me hell in a bit," I strapped him safely as I grabbed his bottles from the fridge, his baby bag, and my leather bag with my laptop. The café shop is around the corner so I'll walk over there.
The morning sun was perfect as a couple of joggers passed by. I peeked inside the stroller as Maximus was observant to everything that was happening, thank god he's being a good baby. A good looking guy was jogging our way. His tight shirt was drenched in sweat as he looked perfectly fit. He slowly jogged by as he glanced inside the stroller. "Cute baby and the daddy is handsome as well," he jogged by as a grin formed on my lips.
